69 widetrack I read the Add/Tech Sheet. It suggest that 1 coat should be enough to do a car...if it says it should be enough, apply at least two...if nothing else than for the protection that paint gives versus primer and how uniform the color will be after it has been applied. The price is right at $25.00 a Gallon for low gloss Black, perhaps buy 2 Gallons of paint reducer and hardner. By the reduction numbers 8 : 1 : 1, it sounds like a very common Acrylic Enamel reduction ratio.

This product may need to cure before the paint loses it gloss, so if you paint it and it seems to stay shiny, let it dry completely before you expect a flat finish, when the solvents evaporate, the color should die down.

Let us know how it turns out...sometimes durability isn't reflected by the price and at $25.00 a Gallon, it could be a tight budget answer.

69 widetrack A gallon, if the reduction is 4 to 1 to 1, which means, 4 parts paint, 1 part catalyst (hardener) and 1 part reducer will give you 6 sprayable US Quarts. Assuming that it takes .75 quarts to fill a pot and 2 pots per pass around the truck...you would have enough for 3 coats of paint and being Black (which in general does cover fairly well) you should have enough to paint your truck. If they sell this paints in Quarts as well, it may be wise to purchase 2 extra Quarts and whatever additional hardner you may need...reducer is often sold in Gallons and if that's the case, you should have enough reducer. The reason I suggest having more paint on hand is that there is nothing worse than running out of paint 2/3's of a way through a paint job. If you do, you may need to start let what you have painted so far, cure, re-sand the Truck and apply more paint. If you have it on hand, what you don't use I'm sure you could return or keep it for future projects (it's Black, you always need Black paint)...and it's John Deere Black...chances are it's not as pricey as PPG's Dupont's or other major manufacturer's brand of automotive refinish Black paints.

Thanks. It's a full size C10 truck, and I'll just be having the outside sprayed, and not inside the bed, will probably do bedliner in there. Do you think a gallon will be enough to do the outside?

69 widetrack Several questions for you...How much of your S10 are you painting...inside the doors, under the hood, inside the box? That's all going to make a difference as to how much paint you need. Check with your John Deere paint tech sheets, they will give you ratios for the amount of hardner and reducer you need...always follow these ratios to the letter, especially when it comes to hardner....too little and it won't stand up to elements and won't have gloss retention...too much and it'll take for ever to set up.

Paint Question..

I'm planning on getting my 82 c10 painted with John Deere Blitz Black. I think 1 gallon will do the truck, right?

I'm going to also get the John Deere Hardener and reducer as well, how much of it do I need to get as well?
