I ran 13" tires on 10" rims. Tires were MT Sportsmans, and the car was a '71 Camaro. If I ran the air down low enough to keep the tread flat on the pavement, then the sidewall flex made the car handle poorly when cornering. If I ran them up at rated levels, the tires wore out in the center and the outter edge was almost new. The traction was also poor as the car ran on about 50" of the 13", and that was not nearly enough for a healthy 427.
Both my present hotrod setups are less than 2" difference between tire and wheel widths, and fit great. They keep all the rubber in contact, without having to run odd pressures.

I have 12" rims on a 14" recommended width. all is fine. Just adjust the tire pressures so the tire lays flat. I run about 17-18 psi and don't have any problems at all.
I have over 20k miles on the tires and still have way over half of the tread left.
(don't do burnouts haha)

on my bucket i had 19.5" wide tires on 15" wide rims.. no prob's

|31ROC||pretty much my same thoughts, they will be on a car that weighs close to nothing, and would take a very long time to wear any tread out since this car will see limited mileage....|

the tire will cup some and wear the centers out first..
ofcourse that depends on the psi you run also and car weight

tire size vs. wheel size?
Finally found some wheels I like....come either 12" 0r 15" widths.
I planned on Mickey Thompson 29X15-R20's for the rears. The M/T website recommends a 13-14" wide wheel for this size tire. Anyone think I'd be OK with the 12" wide wheel?
