Dear All thgks, I used an urethane 2K primer, I understood my mistake:
not enough reducer (i am living in tropical area)
pressure was 25 PSI, it should be 15 PSI.
it works very well now!

Lizer Look at their tech sheet; it's not required.

Nor have I used reducer with it. I spray it with a 1.8 tip. I've sprayed an unreduced gallon of it through that tip. On really hot days it will come out dusty.

TucsonJay Seems odd. In my 40+ years I've never used a 2K primer that did not require reducer... but I haven't used every brand.

Here is a discussion about guys having problems spraying the SPI 2K.

TucsonJay Interesting. What brand is it?

Lizer I've never used a reducer with 2k's I have used.

jpmillermatic I agree w/33willys77....

double check your ratios for the 2K stuff, it might be different than what you are used to....

sounds like its drying way to fast.....could be a clogged setting on the gun, plugged or restricted siphon feed, ect....

mitmaks You need to follow product data sheet.

33Willys77 What product are you using. Are you sure its 1 part primer to 1 part catalyst? Wow, that is a lot of catalyst - usually 4 parts primer to 1 part hardner (might be some variations with different products). I am thinking your mixing ratio is WAY off.

2k Primer spray problem

dear friends
I always used 1 K [rimer, but I used this time 2 K primer: ratio 1 part: 1 part catalyst. The primer dried extremely fast at first layer, but second layer it makes some king of garnule and powder once dried... when you toiuch it, the primer become a kind of yellow powder at the surface, almost like primer dried before reaching the metal... I need to wet sand it now grrrrr.... what did I do wrong?
I suspect my spray gun setting or can do I need (or can) add more reducer??
thks
