bigblocks The most common issue with no upshifts from a 700R4 is;
the governor or the 2-4 band anchor pin is not anchored to the band!

I'm willing to bet its the 2-4 band anchor pin!

Any takers for chits and giggles?

Chevyfan16 I did reset it a couple times...but even in 2nd with the pressure at 200psi it is slipping.

dogwater If this were me before I went any farther I would compleaty undo an the TV cable an go step by step setting it up agine. Your pressures don't seem that far off except for reverse it should be around 250 psi at idle. Go to jakesporformance an check out the tech info. I belive bowetieoverdrives has a step by step. But I would do this first before pulling it out. I had to yank mine out, I forgot to put the sun gear in.

jokerZ71 Sounds like you may actually be in 3rd gear even tho you column may be sayin 2nd.

Chevyfan16 well i finally got out in the pressures are:

2ND-200 (bouncing wildly)

I couldnt go to first cuz my column wont allow it. From what Ive read I think I have a torn lip seal on the low reverse piston maybe? Even in 2nd it still doesnt move without an gas just like in any other position. Sorry for the delay!

dogwater When I rebuild mine I kind of had it in my mind that I'd have to pull it out agine, and I did. I only had reverse. Pulled it out an took it apart to the first & reverse clutchs , ended up some dumb *** (me) didn't put the sun gear in. One thing you can do is get a brass elbow with male threads 1/8 pt. An screw one end into the port an get a threaded cap w/o-ring an put the cap on, then if you need to pressure test agine its easier to get to.

Chevyfan16 Well I ordered my pressure gauge so when it comes in ill see what's up...thanks for the help. It's unbelievably discouraging working this hard and then it doesn't work....

astroracer You did get it filled with fluid, right? Just asking, it takes a lot more then most people realize, especially if you have removed the converter and dumped it out.

Chevyfan16 Alright I won't be able to do that for awhile. I just wanted to get some ideasas far as what to look for. Thank you, any other ideas since I'm pretty sure all the check balls are in the right spot?

496CHEVY3100 Pull the pan and valve body look at your instruction sheet ,I think you have a check ball in wrong location,

Rebuilt 700r4 No moving

I rebuilt my 700r4 with a kit from probuilt automatics. I just got it in the car and tried to drive it. I have reverse and first but it barely moves in first. I set the tv cable the way everyone says and it's tight at idle and at wot. The only way I can describe it is as having a 5000 stall converter. I need to give it gas to move when in drive. I wasnt able to get it to shift either but that is cuz i didnt want to beat on it. Any ideas?
