Pats55 You are correct. I don't sell auto paint. I sell industrial coatings, one and two part urethanes and high heat ceramic.our moisture cures and anti-graffiti line is second to none.

Pats55 if you're referring to me. I saw in your first post. Firebird 455 wanted a satin black that wouldn't break the bank. I can paint outside of the Firebird with 1 quart of primer one quarter of Satin with the hardner and a quart of thinner for 70 bucks same paint job as a Pittsburgh Homestead high-level bridge.

Old Fool No one had mentioned SPI epoxy primer, how did it get in this discussion?

I think someone did not know SPI made single stage hot rod black Polyurethane

Pats55 Kirker has been around for quite a while and makes a good product .Bob from discount autobody supplies carries it around to the shows on the East Coast usually has a big white tent filled with a lot of goodies he's got good prices and will give you a break. To avoid Tiger stripes spray in one direction then come back over it in the opposite direction.most importantly, stir the paint thoroughly .check out AG 111 and how was used on the subways pretty interesting.

Satin paint

,Kirker has just the paint you need. A gallon and harder might run 150.00 . I think it's urethane. Check out there web site.

Are you speaking of SPI single stage uerthane hot rod flat black, or are you speaking of SPI black epoxy primer which many use for a finish coating. Barry does sell both and I can assure you his urethane single stage is not epoxy.

Pats55 I have checked it out.Its an epoxy and im sure its a fine product .Ive been in the industrial coatings business for 23 years, and spent 23 years at shows talking to many of you from daytona to dunkirk just about alll flat paints will gloss up with thinner ,I started the mastercoat line and looked at the same faces for years, and really never had any problems with my info on coating systems Like I said its a fine product Im sure.

MikeyBob I used the SEM Hot Rod Black, its easy to spray, doesn't come out splotchy and runs about $80 for a quart and a half. You could probably do a car in it for under $300 including primer. I used it to paint the stripes and headlight buckets on my camaro, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it on an entire car.

st3gamefarm IIRC, just about all of the auto paint manufacturers have a formula for a satin finish, catilyzed singlestage.
I know PPG does. But as far as off the shelf, I don't know of any. Unless mabe someting from Summit.
You could use Kirker acryilic enamel, it will become a satin finish in a few days.

satin black top coat

Here at master coat. We make 2 part polyester urethane anti-graffiti top coat in a satin .I don't know of another company that offers this type of paint in the hobby. I don't want to be accused of any type of impropriety on the chat room , I am fairly new to this. I think possibly Sherman Williams may offer something along this line This type of finish is ideal for sunlight, harsh chemicals ,and abrasion

firebird455 Ok cool I'm just looking for a good way to paint my car satin black without it looking like crape and not braking the bank.
