38Sedan Good idea to mix them, I never used the lined cans, but I would be surprised if you had any trouble.

st3gamefarm I don't think you'll have any troubles. But you can allways pour it back into the quart cans after mixing it all together.

Mitchman It's likely activated or epoxy for VOC's. I'm guessing good to go.

DanielC Pour some paint out of the one gallon can, and wipe inside the exposed inside of the can. Is the liner softened, or dissolved?

deadbodyman I use saved food cans all the time for my paint and they work well I've never once had the lining disolve with any of the solvents we use...I wonder what that stuff is ??

dogwater There the cans you can buy at Home Depot. Metal cans.Though it was a good idea to mix all the base coat together. Didn't really think about the sprayed on liner untill I was laying in bed. I'll open it back up today an look.

BarryK You are probally fine, a simple test is put a blob in the can and check in a day.

The clear and activator cans are also coated but clear, the same coating as used (you may have read about) the coating of food cans.

Valspar is the big seller of this coating and up until about 8 years ago we also used the gray lined cans for one of the bed liners we made and discontinued a Poly-sulfide type.

A simple test should tell you the story.

MARTINSR That is a damn good question, never thought about it. That liner is designed for waterbase paints so the can doesn't rust. What it is made out of, I don't know.

Hopefully someone who does can answer this, I know I want to know.

1 gal. paint can?

I bought a new unused 1 gal. paint can to hold the 4 qts. of metallic base coat, the base coat came in 4 qt. cans. Pored them into the 1 gal. can, then last night I was thinking about the painted liner inside the new 1 gal. can an I worried about the base coat dissolving the the painted liner. This is one of the cans you can get at Home Depot. Should I worried about this?
