Still toying with some numbers.Any car is going to be a frame off ground build-up.A glide is going to be used with a 28" tire.A 9" with two center different ratios, one for the 1/8 and the other for the 1/4.Full glass treatment, doors, front end, trunk, bumpers and full Lexan as well.Body stripped to the bare bones.

Adjustable coil-overs for all fours with rear shock mount reinforced.

Costs factor of the LSx being as much or more than a BBC I think has excluded those from the running.Toss up between a SBC and a BBC still needing to run some numbers.Leaning towards a BBC with torque being a factor, but still not happy with the extra wt factor and costs of aluminum heads.Have to see what I can come up with for deals for heads from contacts.Going to talk it over with Pat Mccarthy performance to see what he has hanging around the shop.

850 or better d/p unless you already have it is 600+new and used good one 2-3 bills
msII is 230.00 and the donor ls would have everything else..
I love bbc but money to build isn't any real difference..
now not knowing the first thing about tuning efi (like me) then I can see it. as it be all new, and the only reason a 6.2ltr is sitting waiting to go in the SS ,is I'm clueless on the efi end..

Without a cam but buying heads a easy 7 to 8 grand

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-35293
holley hp efi kit, 1700.00+pump/injectors
the injectors would come with the lsx used engine,
the pump. isn't much.. or the msII ecu and the lsx parts it be under 4-500

pace is selling complete gto ls and vette lsII for under 3k

my 489 is at 5500.oo without heads/intake or machining.. tho. it's all new parts but the block.
used bbc parts don't show up much around here..

if I was better with efi there be a 6.2 sitting beside my SS as they are 6k new crate 6.2 427hp and even less out of a wrecked f body

I've contacted:

McCarthy Performance in Kawkawlin | McCarthy Performance (989) 667-4071 # , Kawkawlin, MI 48631 | <Automotive/Repair & Service/Engine> - Yahoo! US Local

Who I have known for about 5 yrs.So I pretty much decided I'm going to go the BBC route.Waiting to see what he has in the shop.Steel headed and am sure I can overcome the 150lb added wt with a BBC engine's output.

Me-lost 20lbs in the last three months to get into race wt.Hoping for under 200lbs for the first time in forty yrs.

Want to add that Pat's talent is on the same level as a Sonny Bryant or a BME or LPE.We even through have the ability to build our own farmed out our 565(which at one turned into a mistake, but we learned from)and our 632 to builders for that reason.
So guys do travel to builders like that.A trip to Pat is well worth it.I don't normally recommend engines builders.

Still looking to have good priced 454's setting in the shop as parts/back-ups.I do think I would want to build my own Patrick Budd engine build engine setting in the shop as a back-up.Depends if I can find a decent deal on a good 454's.

thats great and all, but you are building a iron headed bbc to go 12's
your talking incircles about a 565? and "our" 632..
no idea what thats about.. but you are building a basic bbc to go 12's a 468 will be more than enough. and wouldn't even be breathing heavy..
isn't scott sharoff in your neck of the woods?
I've always had good luck with his stuff.. now if I build my 489 down the road, I'll have reids Engine Rebuilding-Automotive Machine Shop-MA,NH,RI,CT,VT,ME

machine it.. the 30 over and deck, and square .
as there will be no reason to go that far for a basic machining, unless you are going that far for cheap parts.. and I don't like what thats normally about..

No disrepect intended, but your talking about hunting for BBC parts, your talking about some guy that builds 632ci race motors etc etc
First, do you not work/own/partner at some form of shop that does this for a living? That's what i recall from our previous arguments/discussions
And second.....you know its just a G-Body running high 12's.....
You could do that with the mildest of mild sbc's in that platform....especially given that you said its going to be a track only car with some weight savings done to it....
I'm just confused at this entire thread......
But maybe that's just me

Absolutely.Torque curves apply even more so in the 1/8 for the all important 60'/330' times.Unlike street cars, you want those curves in race applications to be higher in the RPM range for a smooth transition from torque to hp for gear changes.I used hp as a term that most relate to...........

But the thing is let's say I am holding.020 on .020 light or better.I might be racing 330' times and never test and tune at the tracks I regularly race at so no one knows what the car will do.You just need to cut good lights and pick your spots on the track and make good decisions to take the stripe or not.

The 9.90 cars we have owned before all would run in the range of 9.00's or alittle better...............won a national doing that.

in other words , you want to build a sandbagger. to go rounds,
instead of being able to dial.
are you at least gonna drive the car, or is this going to be another lame @_$ electric box /throttle stop cars?

guess the art of knowing your package and running an honest dial is a thing of the past.

#66 ·
At my level racing only a two step is allowed. So knowing your package is more critical to run your dial.Even the 9.90 cars with every kind of electronic you can think of,if you can't rt and cut a light, your not going to win.
I have yet to meet a fan that wants cars to run out the back door that is willing to put greenbacks in my wallet for wear and tear and breakdowns.

No sponsors at my level of racing either. The 9.90 cars we went only three yrs without one total. But the class I want to run there is none.
