Hey, to all of you experts, It is nice to get on a site that I can get information on. I feel like a brother, although I, nor my son Alan are experts. I am looking forward to bringing back this truck, putting a new bed on it, as the old bed is to far gone. But other than that everything else is not bad. Thanks for allowing me to be on your site. Looking forward to hearing direction to go and all of the vast experience you have. I live in Southern Ohio, my son Alan is 21 and this is first project. :)

way cool

It is cool that you and your son have the time to spend together and on such a cool project. My dad never took much interest in me and my projects so I can say I feel you are lucky to have the time to spend and a good son to share it with. Kudos

I have a 1953 Chevy PU 3100 custom cab may daughter and I are building together. The truck is a desert truck, excellent condition hardly any rust at all. Just some holes cut for antennas and one odd ball hole in the dash that makes no sense. There's some bad work in the past on a few other things too. The dash has the radio hole cut up like many old vehicles to accommodate a modern car radio. I was hoping someone had the radio out of their 49-53 Chevy truck and I could maybe get a good template, so I can rebuild the one in our dash back to original specks. I always thought I'd be building hot rods with my son but turns out my youngest daughter is the real gear head out of 4 kids. I'm 67 and enjoying our hobby a whole lot. Catching up on what I missed out on when I had to work... Thanks
