|TheCoatingStore||Take good notes and re-check your blend once you go to use a different black. I would expect you would have to actually use more pearl in the SPI black than the duplicolor since the SPI has to be stronger (ie more black in it than the duplicolor). Same with our black. Our's is much stronger than duplicolor. Good luck!|

ill be using spi pure black base when i do the actual car , for testing i went out and bought 2 qts of duplicolor ready to spray jet black , and 2 qts of the duplicolor clear
the duplicolor stuff was cheap and was perfect for me to get a feel for spraying with the pearl on junk body panels

Depends on the strength of your black and particle size on the blue pearl. our Midnight blue pearl has about 10 grams of blue pearl per quart and the attached photo is what you end up with so maybe that will be helpful. If you wanted to weigh up a smaller quantity for spraying 1% blue pearl on the weight of the black base would be a good starter.

|TheCoatingStore||I would start with about 20 grams per sprayable quart intercoat clear spray a couple of coats on with 75% overlap and adjust from there.|

|shine||that'll work . i've had a set of the old tin measuring spoon for ever . only set i ever saw with a 1/2 teaspoon . worked great for pearl jobs .|

should be warm enough this week i can play around with some spare body parts i have laying around
when starting out with the pearl in the base coat about how much pearl powder should i add per sprayable quart ?
same with the metal flake in the clear how much flake per sprayable qt would be a good starting point ?

Probably a good time to do some test panels to try your mixes. Be sure to take good notes so you can re-create it when you got to spray next weekend.

painting has been postponed one more weekend , we thoguht it was going to be in the mid 60's this weekend but the temp is at 43* currently , the heater we have in the shop is coal fired so we cant run it to warm up the shop since it puts to much soot in the air
hopefully next weekend it will stay warm

he said it should be subtle but noticeable
im really hoping hes right im going to test on some old hoods and body panels i have laying around before putting it on the car though
this is what im wanting to achive with the black/blue pearl in the base
then the silver ghost stripes , and just a hint of flake over the whole thing

well i couldnt wait any longer i start spraying tommorow , i went down to my local body shop in town and picked up a 100 grams of deep blue pearl powder , and 100 grams of some silverish pearl powder for the ghost stripes. i also picked up some blue metal flake
im going to experiment with mixing the blue and silver pearl together in the clear for the stripes if that dont work how i think it will ill use silver only for the stripping
in the black base im going to mix enough blue pearl in it that the sunlight turns the paint blue
im assuming i should do black/pearl base , then the clear with metal flake , and then finally mask my stripes for the and spray the clear/pearl combo, and then finally spray with straight clear
if somone could confirm that order for me id greatly apreciate it
