I am building an 1985 S10 ext cab. It was an X bracket racer. the body is mint and it has had the 350 conversion kit put into it. I got it with no motor/trans. The good, is it has top of the line everything else. It has 4:11 posi rear.
So I got it, now I want to drive it. So I bought an 87 305 flat tappet motor 14101081 heads, 4brl to drop in. (I know it's not a hotrod motor... I don't really want performance... as I have other hotrods for that... but I want a nice driver that is fun and decent on gas.) Looking to push 300hp or close to it.
I have a th200r4 trans. the truck has dual exhaust with headers.
Now I am looking at some bolt on power options... looking for a CAM (bouncing around the idea of SUM 1300, Melling MEL-MTC-1, or Comp Xe252)
Also thinking about mild porting work on the heads. (I think they are decent) Not sure I want to go 1.94 Intake valves. possibly upgrading the heads. if needed.
any thoughts? opinions?
