I just wanted to hear comments from people since we are all diffrent and have our own ideas and styles.
I have a 1928 chevy national, I got the car running in really good condition and everything was in it's original shape. I have added a picture so you guys can see it.
so the Question is, Would you guys keep it all original or would you turn it into a rat rod?
I wouldn't turn it into a rat rod. Maybe a hotrod. My 31 was all original and it would run about 35 to 40 mph. I wanted to be able to drive my car on the highways so I'm updating my drive train. And leaving the body like it is.
If it is all original, then keep it that way. It has existed for 85 years in its current state, I think it would be a disgrace to the car if you altered it. I think it is cool as it sits!
This thread reminds me of those Model "T" guys at the car shows.......The always looked down on the hot rod guys for modifying their cars.
Its up to you....If you feel the car should be left stock, do that. It can only be stock once. ....If restored to original condition, it is still modified from original, paint body etc.....so its still not really all original
BTW...Those bumpers dont look stock to me....could be wrong
Well said.. Build what you like....
Like my friend always said..''Every car needs a hair cut''' ...
85 years of Being the same old original car,, Cut it up !!!!!:mwink:
Drop it off at my house and it will be cut before you leave...
No.. All joking a side,, Build what you want, Not what other people want...Don't follow anyone,,Your the only one that has to like it.. It's cool anyway,, But I would still cut it..
if it were me i would drive it as is , save up some cash, take your time and look at others out there. come up with a plan of what you would like. And then go at it and build it the way you want.
Don't cut it up. It is to nice to do that. Sell it and buy something that is more to your liking. Something that is hot rodded already, running and drivable. That will let you make it your own without boogering up a survivor...

I have a '32 Confederate that is an original car but I did change out the axles and steering. Now 4 wheel anti lock discs and a Vega steering box. Also I did change out the generator for a 60 amp 12 volt and replaced the bulbs and a Volt a Drop for the gauges. 30-32 MPG; no smog and it gets a lot of looks too. I have even been offered some good money for it. I do have the original sales pares and license plates too. Nice car. My input? Look at Hemmings' Motor News and see what a stock '28 is worth vs a rat rod.

iroc,
Yep. Back axle from an S-15 and the front discs of the same pickup. Then I found a computer control and had a electronics guru buddy help me get it all sequenced. Works like a charm. I have a '41 Chevy PU front axle and Vega steering.
I am on the hunt for one of those. My plan is to build a new chassis with my choice of drivetrain and then place the body of the car on that setting the stock chassis and running gear aside. I would not build a rat rod out of it I would build a hot rod out of it.
