big gear head Need a pic to identify it. Also a measurement from outside surfaces of the brakes to tell what it came out of. 1st gen is 60 inches, 2nd gen is 61 inches and 3rd and 4th gen are too weak to even consider.

sqeezeit It's for my hotrod,54 Chevy sedan. It's in it now just don't know if its stronge enough for more power n has no posi which I want,

big gear head Post a picture of it and we can identify it. If it's from a 1st gen or '70 Camaro then it's the 8.2 10 bolt. If it's froma '71 to '81 Camaro then it's the 8.5 10 bolt. If it's from a 3rd or 4th gen Camaro then it's the 7.5 10 bolt. All 8.2 and 8.5 Camaro rear ends had 28 spline axles. The 7.5 had 26 spline axles up to '90 when it was upgraded to 28 spline axles.

What are you going to do with it?

sqeezeit Its not posi. But I think its out of camaro? So in short might just look for another or get posi n better axles.I wounder if there are better stock axles I could find and swap out.Not sure what spline axles mine are, never had out.

vinniekq2 if its a later "good" 10 bolt, then the stock posi will stand up.should have "C" clip eliminators. if the car hooks,IE drag racing, then you will need to upgrade axles

gm 10 bolt rear end

I have a gm 10 bolt but not sure which one ect....I have researched countless time and info trying to figure it out. Most of the numbers/stampings that identify it acourding to people and internet resources are different then mine or not there.Im at work now and cant remmber the measurement of the ring gear until I get back home but I do know the gear ratio,LOL. After I find this out will determine if I should change, because I want it to handle 400+hp,dont know if its stronge enough.Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,Eric
