painted jester We are all Survivors of a rode hard and put out to dry life!!! No EPA, No OSHA, Guys our age worked in terrible conditions And either did what we were told or we hit the bricks!! I Wore a full asbestos suit, hood and Mits , melted lead and poured it into molds, worked in chemical plants with no protection or even knowing what the chemical was, We handled and welded used radioactive tubing from reactors, Handled Mercury by the gallons LOL now 1 drop hits the floor and they close the whole plant or school for a clean up! We used to shine and turn our pennys silver with it when we were kids ETC all we old guys in the trades were put in jeopardy so were our wives and kids because we brought the substances home on our cloths!! And its breaking down all of our old bodys now, Many years later!! Many young people don't know that We even had people handling radioactive paints and powders to make our watches and clocks glow at night! I sill have a few one is a Micky Mouse watch from when I was a kid (its still glowing) LOL

painted jester LOL I was terminal with cancer in '79 LOL 3 yrs of radiation Chemo and surgery I BEAT IT, About 12 years after it hit me again and had treatments and beat it again Then I was in an industrial fire and put in a burn hospital for 3 months (St. Marys) and couldnt work for a year and a half then got hurt working on a 40 ton clutch press table the jacks gave and it caught my arms I had 7 reconstruction surgerys on my 2 shoulders with new stainless parts and Teflon added (I insisted on MADE IN U.S.A parts) LOL then while healing I fell on ice and crushed 3 vertebra in my back and my discs ruptured (With my shoulders healing at the time I couldn't use my arms to catch my balance) I had to sell my 38 Plymouth (to pay bills) LOL The devil Must have a claim on me I've beat the B A S T A R D over and over and he keeps making plans against me LOL So I'm used to pain and drugs and A S S E N I N E doctors that want to cut ya Veterans Hospital helped me a lot no bar and screws in my back!!!

I'm in good shape though after all that but I cant pick up more then 10 LBs ( the limit they put on me) But I still break that rule and go in a few times a year for tune ups on my robotic hardware that pulled loose and cancer check ups But I don't want to go in So I put it off) some times for long periods (over 2 year since I last went in) But the pain when I come out is bad and the drugs make me feel worse then dead !! So I put it off as long as I can LOL Don't you do that!!!

Getting old sucks LOL All of us probably have similar storys when our age
LOL I guess I'm pretty lucky

Car shows and cruises and working on hot rods and being on Hotrodders makes me think young and gives me joy!!!!!!

35terraplane My kidney went south on me, so I have to go to dialysis 3 times a week for 3 1/2 hours. Being my kidney still work some what I can skip some days once in awhile as long as I take it easy on the fluid intake.

If I have to I can go down in the T.C. if I let them know ahead of time.
I know what old age does to you for sure.LOL The last year has been pretty good, but for 2 years before that I was in and out of the hospital or care center. I can't walk very good so I use a cart to get around.

I just got a new camera so I can carry all my stuff in the cart, now I have to learn how to run the camera. The book for the flash unit is as big as the one for the camera. I think I might be in deep doo doo. LMAO.

35terraplane Jester I'm up north of the T.C. The show is in St. Paul at the state fair grounds. I go down on Thursday to get checked in before the rush.

If you go on line and GO to the M.R.S.A. web site. you can Reg. If you do it early you will save yourself some bucks. If your son lives in the T.C. you will have a place to stay.

The place is crazy people spend all night in there cars to get in Friday and Sat. morning, Sunday morning there is a big swap meet, the show has over 300 vendors, a ladies showcase for the ladies. They show them everything from how do do their hair to how to cut their toe nails. LOL No they have a fashion show to what ever.

There is a raising of the flag on Sat. morning by Vets. Then a flyover by world war two planes, which are low, and they pass over 3-4 times, I think it is pretty neat myself and I think many others do to.

They also have a big craft fair, and food stands all over both walk up or sit down. It is more than a show it is a happening.

Many people come year after year, from many states and our friends in Canada. And I know we have a couple coming from N.Z. this year.

If your son doesn't live in the T.C. you will have to hurry to get signed up for a camping space on grounds. There are two camp grounds on site, North and South and I know the North is full.

If it sounds like I'm pushing the show I am. I was head guy for 4 years and help run it for a total of 11 years. I started getting the vendors there when we opened the show up to everyone. But I think most members of M.R.S.A. are just like me when it comes to the 50's, they can't wait for the show to start.

Think about it, if you come I don't think you will be sorry, and I'm pretty sure you will tell others about it.

I did say we give prizes on Sunday, about $30,000 worth or more not sure.
I would like to get a bunch off here to come and we could have a get together on the grounds Sat. afternoon.
