|ASE Doc||I did a test this morning, making a full throttle run through the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts in D. The 1-2 shift was at a perfect 6,300 right where I manual shift. The 2-3 was again at 5,500. This proves Crosley's point concerning the shift valve spring versus the governor. I'll work on this as I get the chance.|

|pricesgarages||ive always had good luck with a governer from a 2.8 s10 it rasies the shift points a bit on 1-2 but 2-3 are good|

its been my experience on the 2-3 shift in a 4l60... the spring on the 2-3 shift valve needs changed. SLight changes make big difference in road speed - RPM shift point.
Ounces on change is all that is needed. Stiffer spring will hold off the upshift to higher road speed.
Altering the governor often affects other shifts points more than the 2-3 shift point. You get the 2-3 where you like, the other shift points are then out of whack to your liking

I recently rebuilt my 700R4. It has the .500 TV Boost valve and .300 reverse boost valve. I reused the same vette governor that was already in it. My one complaint with the unit is the full throttle shift points. It has the transgo hi rev springs installed to hold 2nd gear without burning the 3-4 clutches. It also has the hi rev pump slide spring to hold full pump volume. But, unless I manual shift, it shifts from 2nd to 3rd at 5,500, which is too low for my motor. I manual shift at 6,300, which is about perfect. As is, it won't shift from 1-2 below 30mph. It has been this way since it was first built 14 years ago. I am thinking about removing the springs from the governor. Will this raise the minimum 1-2 shift point even higher? If so, how can I raise the full throttle shift points without raising the minimum 1-2 shift speed? I feel very good about the results of this build. For my first 700R4, I am pleased with how it turned out. This is just fine tuning. All of the help that I receive here is greatly appreciated.
