Irelands child Looks good.
I chose to not have mine on my '31 etched (MACs sells some etched) plus cut the size down a bit but that's a very nice job that you did on yours.

This is a smaller version if you are interested:

Wind Wings

I finally finished the wind wings. The picture is not the best but it gives you an idea of what I wound up with. They are made of polycarbonate with a scratch resistant coating. I had the design sand blasted with 180 grit sand, using a stainless steel stencil I found on e-Bay. They turned out exactly the way I envisioned. Thanks everyone for the help.

Thanks

Thanks everyone. I followed killeratrod's tip, searched eBay and found a design I liked. I'll post pictures of the wings when I'm finished.

cm324 Here is one I photograhed at a local show. It isn't a wind wing but it will give you an idea and could be easily modified to fit a smaller window.

ParaGraver

A ParaGraver in the hands of a skilled artist gives a lot more definitation in the art work. acid etching is all flat. My Nephew is a jewler and does a lot of engraving, guns, glass goblets for weddings, for stained glass work. he hasn't got into doing cars. I sent him some picts a few years ago of a car I saw in Calif at a goodguys show that had a lot of engraving , valve covers, rear end cover, instrument cluster panel, door panel inserts. http://paragrave.com/

OneMoreTime As I recall back in the day rubber cement was brushed on to the window to make a mask and then the design was traced on to the mask. Then taking an exacto knife the design was cut out and then the artist sandblasted the design..one can use anything pleasing such as a picture out of a magazine or something to do this with..These days with computers a sign shop should be able to make a mask for you..

jax32 We are talking about the same thing. What I need is the design. I recall as a kid reading a story wherein they quoted the owner as saying he got the design from a doilie or a piece of lace. I have looked at all sorts of doilies and yards of lace but I can't find anything that I think would work.

Remember Lil John Buttera's '27 Touring.... it had the wind wings with the scrolled etchings.... you can barely see the scroll work in the photos below (also in the back window)..
