When I tipped the front panel for my car, I nearly cr$#@ed my pants as it went straight but the shrinker /stretcher worked it all out in short order.

|tech69||of course it's going to work out, look how you handled the other area you were unsure of. You're handling it like a champ. Sounds like you're going to shrink it, cool. I think you'll be able to get a little something out of it, even with that extra meat.|

It won't be an issue on this one I don't think Henry. I can curve it slightly by running the lip through the shrinker/stretcher jaws. If I have measured correctly it is within 3/8 of an inch to the outer skin of the quarter panel. Also, I made the lip about 2 1/2 inches longer than it needs to be on the rear and 7-8 inches on the front as the EMS quarter panel patch has the complete front of the wheel well stamped into it. I just made more than I needed because, One, it was easy to do, and two, it allows me to trim it anywhere I choose.
I will fit it before I trim off the old wheel house or the quarter panel. It would probably pay me not to get too cocky yet but I think it will work out well.

|tech69||nice. I wonder if you're gonna have a hard time getting some shape in that from front to back now that the flange is set. Seems like there's a lot of meat to rely on a bench shrinker to do that, or perhaps that flange will make the metal stubborn if you try to wheel some shape into it. That's one thing that seems like a pain when making bucks, is making that arch, if there's any there.|

We have had some illness in the family and basement time has been pretty well nill but I did get my five minutes tonight.
I did get to tip the wheel well lip on the wheel house. It went smoothly with no surprizes so i can fit it to the car and remove the old wheel house. I hope to get some time in the shop tomorrow but right now not sure.

I thought I was done for the night but Mama let me sneek back down for a few minutes.
I have the panel clamped in the hammer form buck ready to tip the wheel well flange. I also put 2 screws through the wood and the panel tp prevent it from "crawling" when I hammer it over. Unfortunately it may be Monday before I get back to it......Bummer.

This one is going to be pretty low tech Henry but sometimes simple does the job.
My dirty hands came in handy for making a pattern for the outer part. Once I cut it out, I made referance marks on the pattern and wheel house tub. That in turn was transferred to the panel I cut out as well as adding a 1/4 inch to the outer diameter and marking out the 7/16 for the wheel well opening. The 1/4 will be trimmed off later but I thought a little room for error would be good. Bare in mind, this 7/16 lip is for the wheel house. A second lip will be added to the quarter panel that has to mate up with this one. If you look closely at the pattern taped to the car, you will see I marked it off 3/16 inches high to leave an allowance for the quarter panel lip.
Here is the dirty finger pattern.
Pattern cut out and transferred to the tub with referance marks. Wheel well marked 3/16 high to leave room for lip on quarter panel.
Next the pattern was transferred to the panel with extra material laid out.
Lastly, I double checked my pattern with a skirt and transferred it to a piece of Oak. I screwed two pieces of the Oak together and cut them out as one piece. I still have to sand them and clean them up but you can see where I am going.

|tech69||that's gonna be awesome. Please show us how you make your form. I'm interested in making some forms but all I can think of is a router, jig saw, and some good ol hand sanding. I'd like to know more so please share that with us.|
