pfarber As mentioned google NAVEDTRA 14217 and 14218. They are Navy Training manuals are are very good. 14217 is more repair/adjusting and 14218 is more operation.

One thing that I am finding out with repair parts is that the current quality of parts is low compared to originals. I tried the $5 feet an they were junk (cast pot metal with HEAVY gooped on chrome). Found an original Singer foot for $20 and its far superior (milled and blackend like the originals).

Timing my 111W was dead simple. Make the machine look like the book.

Hi this is a link to industrial sewing machine repair and maintenance from the U.S air force. It starts on chapter 4 page one and is 37 pages covers your consew machine. The timing is easy to reset if you follow all the steps in sequence. Good luck

DanTwoLakes Running the sewing machine threaded without sewing anything together will just jam it up, it won't break the needle. The machine is probably out of time and is hitting the hook as it passes.

Old Doug I have a consew. It seems to work good. I have did 3 seats with it . The needle will break if you run it with out some thing being sewed. You can wind a bobben up with it as long as the needle is not threaded. I dont think this is right but it sews good.

I didn't MAKE a convertible top, I installed a pre-made one. But I never thought I could do that either!

DanTwoLakes Hi Jennifer: You would not be breaking needles if you just had the machine threaded wrong, it just wouldn't sew properly. Are you using the correct needles for your machine? Your needle system is 135X17. If you are using the correct needle installed correctly with the grooved side to the left and the scarf of the needle to the right and it is pushed all the way up into the needle bar then you need to take it in for service. You don't have a piece of broken needle shank up in the needle bar so the needle can't go all the way up do you? It sounds more like the machine is out of time to me.

hello! I have an issue with my consew!

Hello!

I am new to this site...I am hoping to learn from you guys!

My main concern right now is that I have a used Consew 206rb-5 that I got a few months ago, and I think I messed something up.

I've broken a few needles recently...I think I may have had it threaded incorrectly recently to get this problem...well now when the needle goes all the way down it hits some part it is not supposed to and will not run/breaks the needle! When I turn the hand crank by hand it is very hard to get it to go when the needle bar is at the very top and then the very bottom of its range....which btw I can only do this without a needle installed. If I have a needle in it will break. Did I mess up the timing? Do I just need to take it to a shop? I am really bumming right now!

Can anyone help?

Thanks!
Jennifer
