We started a trivia thread over at another forum and it has been a lot of fun.
Here are the ground rules. It starts with one question. The first reply with the right answer gets the floor for a new question. It continues like that unless, A) the person who has the floor doesn't ask a new question, or B) no one gets the correct answer. In that case, the person with the floor asks a new question. No more than one question on the floor at a time, and discussion/clarification is welcome until the floor is taken over by a new question.
First question: In the 1952 Indy 500, what type of fuel was burned in the record-setting pole-position #28 car? Hint: it won pole position by a full 4 mph over the second-place Ferrari
You're going to have to work harder than that, Holden what? I don't have a Holden in the shop, but I had something that a Holden bumper and grille fits on there. :mwink:
Come on now BB you are going to have to work harder, we had a car in the shop with an American name on it that we were able to bolt this Holden bumper and grille on. :mwink:
Makes sense - the "goat" was just a re-badged Holden Monaro anyway
Change the dash (and move the steering wheel over to the left side), hang a couple of goat emblems on it and voila!
By the way - Camaro is also Holden-based, as well. And GM is considering dropping Holden.
GM has forgotten how to make a RWD, V8 anything! Only exceptions are trucks and Caddys. GM senior management is launching a whole new task force to try and find out why people are standing line for hours for a chance to avoid buying GM products!
As a jag rear glass is mounted in rear deck and it raises with the hatch .Brians photo has a seperate deck lig ,it looks Itilian to me by the wiper bezel ,I will guess alpha.mabe a DB Austin,
It's AMERICAN! I was blown away seeing this yesterday at a show. He said it was original, and vacuum powered! I came home and did some research and damn if it isn't true! I never dreamed that there was a rear window wiper anywhere near as early as this in America or anywhere for that matter.
My buddy's '48 Pontiac "Torpedo-back" has that kind of vacuum - powered rear window wiper. (It also stops dead when accelerating and tries to beat the car to death when you take your boot off the loud pedal! Just like vacuum-powered windshield wipers!)
I googled so I'm not going to answer, but someone should forward the correct answer to Wikipedia because this is on their site....
"Jack Reynolds of Ford Motor Company invented the rear windshield wiper in 1972, while working at the Ford Motor plant in Mahwah, New Jersey.[8] They were first implemented in the 1970s, but SUVs did not use them until the 1980s."
Now that it's confirmed that Pontiac did have it we will give the floor to Bob as he answered it first. And the photo I had found to confirm it was original before I posted the question was a Pontiac and I didn't spot that until now.
The one it was on was a woodie Chevy "Styleline" I think they called it. It's to the very left of this photo.
There is no defroster or anything like that, what you are looking at is a lowrider club plaque.
Side note: Jerry;s "Porter was actually a 1924 Model T owned by propman Kaye Trapp. Trapp bought the car from who? Norm Grabowski. Grabowski had first used it in a film called "Sex Kittens Go to College" Trapp leased the car to the studio after and fellow propman, Norm Breedlove turned the T tub into a 28 Porter. Where have we heard that name before? norm was Craig Breedlove's father. Now here's the interesting part. The "Porter" (Model T) was not named after the real Porter automobile, but was named after the show's production manager, W. A. Porter. Who everybody agreed was a pain in the butt.
Now this has absolutely nothing to do with the original trivia question but as you can see it's pretty trivial.
bb ( Master of Useless Information) or as he was sometimes called,
MUI ( which translates from Lithuanian to mean (He who is full of crap)

If we are talking American then as everyone knows that would be the 1904 Thomas Flyer.
And in 1910 Thomas Flyer drove around the world in what we know as "The Great Race" New York to Paris.
You are correct sir!! you have the floor.:thumbup:
