I've seen the aluminum tape thing done before, but that has got to be the worst paint job I have ever seen.
Looks like somebody colored it in with a crayon

YES that is aluminum tape over this entire car! Apparently he is using it as the base color for candy? We are talking 3" wide tape applied side by side vertically! Saw this on my lunch walk today, yeow.

I always wanted to put 12 chromed Strombergs on top of an Allison V-12 and stick it in a Model A roadster

Granted, a healthy 396 would out-perform it for half the price, but you can't beat the bad-*** image of that big Allison

Look under the hood of a late-70's Mopar some time, especially one with California emissions

Dave57210 Toyota/Lexus also makes a V12 version!!!!!

Now if I could get my sweaty paws on one of THOSE engines!

That there is funny!

Man, I'd have to guess with those big budget R&D programs there's probably good reason for all the covers. Maybe airflow management, corrosion prevention, noise dampening... who know what all they might have going on there. But keeping idle hands idle probably saves them a ton of headaches

I seem to remember hearing that about Duesenberg once upon a time

Here is the way modern manufacturers try to discourage you from getting your inquisitive little paws in there. Behold the "sealed" engine.
They do that by using oddball hardware that require you to spend a couple million dollars on special tools to get into
