|MI2600||The 327 and 350 are both internally balanced. I suppose you could use a 327 balancer on a 350, but what lurks in the back of my mind is that the engineers put a larger balancer on the 350 for a reason.|

|34FordPickUp||Well that is good news, as the 327 lived in a 34 Ford Pick-up and the alternator bracket was a custom design that mounted the unit low on the block (below the head) for engine compartment clearance. Thanks much for the help!|

oh boy! 327 and 350 both can use same damper what you got is an old short nosed water pump so alternator bracket is this big long flat deal on the right, you need a long nosed water pumps' alternator bracket that mounts on the left (as you look at the engine from in front) 327 balancer was press on only and was 6", 8" is better but should have a bolt in center to hold it on. just ask me, i stripped it. your alternative is to keep the short nosed water pump and find the older pulleys.
i just re read your question, yes use the old balancer but use the bolt in the 350's crank too

327 TO 350 CONVERSION
OK, the 327 gave up the ghost and I got a deal on a rebuilt 350. The 350 is still GEN 1 but with a one piece rear seal. 1st question: Old harmonic balancer was 6.75, new is 8 and puts the vee-belt pully out further to the front of the engine. I'd like to keep it close to the block like the 327 and re-use the existing alternator bracket. Can I just re-use the old 327 harmonic balancer? (327 was internal balance, 350 is external balance). I'm open for ideas.
Can i get the old 327 flywheel re-drilled for the new pattern on the crankshaft or would i be better of with a new flywheel? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
