Will a 56 model powerglide (originally on a 235 open driveshaft car) bolt up to a 53 model 6 cyl (originally power glide closed torque tube type) bolt up to the 53 model motor without any issues? I have a really good 56 model glide that I'd like to take advantage of. I'm fairly sure I can get a rear end to put in my 53 out of the 56 as well, leaving just having a shaft made (unless the one from the 56 happened to be correct length) hope that made sense.

Trans should bolt to the engine.

This what I have found on most GM torque tube setups:

the rear leaf springs for the torque tube setup are different from non-torque tube springs. The bolt that locates the differential pad is father forward near 2 inches on the torque tube setup.

You bolt in a regular open differential in place of a torque tube and the wheel center line is a couple inches forward in the fender opening
