Seon Thanks to all that replied to this thread. I removed the A/C vent from under the steering column and hidden...well hidden above the steering column beyond the maze of wires....I found the other flasher. I replaced it and I'm good to go.
Thanks again.

302 Z28 Visually inspect the filaments of all your bulbs. I will guess you have one bulb that the filament has bridged on.

Wrencher The 4way works off the signal switch, but thru a different path, if your sure you have only one flasher, do the frt and rear lights come on w/ signal?

Seon Bud-23, it only has one flasher.

Wrencher, I engaged the turn didn't flash but the light was on. I then pushed the emergency flasher button in with the turn signal still engaged and all four light flashed. But I pulled the smeregency flasher button out, the turn signal still didn't work.

bud-23 The 4 way is a separate flasher.

Wrencher Check the flasher with the signals on, if no juice coming in, the signal switch is probably defective!

Seon Wrencher, thanks again.
I was just checking the flasher and decided to change it again with another from the other car. They did not blink then decided to push the emergency flasher in and they worked...all four lights but when I tried the turn signals, it just light up but didn't flash.
I took each bulb out and all appears to be okay. This Chevelle only has one flasher.

Is there a ohm test I can do?

Wrencher Electronic is a heavy duty type, Federal mogul Signalstat part #282, most parts stores should carry them, if not, ask for HD.

Seon Thanks for your reply. But when you say "electronic flasher" what does that mean? I replaced it with the stock flasher so this electronic is from a later car? Would a "heavy duty" flasher be better?
12-04-2003 10:36 AM
Wrencher Probably too much resistance in the circuit, the flasher works off heat, you could try an electronic flasher and check sockets and grds!

Turn signal flasher

On the wifes' '70 Chevelle, the turn signal flasher went out so I replaced it about three days ago and it went out again today. Both front and rear light bulbs lights up when I set the turn signal but doesn't flash. What's blowing the flasher?
