old gm-ford swap

I used to live next to a guy that raced 4 cyl circle track super modified . For a while he ran a Boss 302 head head on a GM iron duke block. then he started sawing SBC V8 blocks in half, welding them back together to have a V 4,

head swaps?

The torque plates we used when reboring engines would fit several engines, head bolt spacing was the same, The centerline dimensions for engine manufacturing machinery were for several engine families. It Is very expensive to develope a new engine and have to buy all new machinery.

Torque454 its a 16V DOHC Volvo head that fits on the ford 2.3. Requires custom manifolds and stuff tho. Easily confused tho, since Saab and Volvo are both Swedish cars...

A option is a 8v Volvo turbo head. Already has proper valves, aluminum, already has a turbo exhaust manifold, and no pistons mods. Expensive yes.

Just get a BO PORT head and call it a day. The volvo swap is cool but when push comes to shove it is a poor investment for the power gained.

A 9 second 4 cylinder Turbo Fox-Bodied Mustang that produces 1,000HP, gets 25MPG, does amazing wheel stands and is street legal. Built by the Hubers in Saint Louis, Mo and campaigned nationally.

The first turbo 4 cylinder Musatng built by Ford in 1979, this car has evolved into a 150MPH quarter mile car with full interior, passes emissions and beats the vast majority of V8 cars that it comes up against.

Production by One Eyed Dog Productions, Audio Engineering by Vocal VooDoo Productions, and a very special Thanks to the Huber Family and 1320video.com.

carolinacustoms Honestly I don't know other than they are both 10 bolt heads. Here are a few links to sites that say they will, you may want to ask them over there?

From what I can find it may work, but the general feeling is it wouldn't be any gain? I am just reposting what I have read, because I honestly don't know. I do know you can get big power out of a 2.3 Ford if you don't mind throwing some money at it. We ran one for a few years at a local dirt track and it held up turning 9400 in the straights for 2 years before we started running a late model.

I believe some saab parts swap in place for some ecotec parts but never heard of ford.
Saab and ecotek are interchangeable in the later GM owned years..

Never heard of Saab/Ford interchange. But this is/was GM country
