I used to live next to a guy that raced 4 cyl circle track super modified . For a while he ran a Boss 302 head head on a GM iron duke block. then he started sawing SBC V8 blocks in half, welding them back together to have a V 4,

The torque plates we used when reboring engines would fit several engines, head bolt spacing was the same, The centerline dimensions for engine manufacturing machinery were for several engine families. It Is very expensive to develope a new engine and have to buy all new machinery.

|Torque454||its a 16V DOHC Volvo head that fits on the ford 2.3. Requires custom manifolds and stuff tho. Easily confused tho, since Saab and Volvo are both Swedish cars...|

Honestly I don't know other than they are both 10 bolt heads. Here are a few links to sites that say they will, you may want to ask them over there?

From what I can find it may work, but the general feeling is it wouldn't be any gain? I am just reposting what I have read, because I honestly don't know. I do know you can get big power out of a 2.3 Ford if you don't mind throwing some money at it. We ran one for a few years at a local dirt track and it held up turning 9400 in the straights for 2 years before we started running a late model.

I believe some saab parts swap in place for some ecotec parts but never heard of ford.

Saab head, Ford block?
Does anyone know if a Saab 2.3 DOHC head bolt pattern is the same as the Ford 2.3 SOHC? Will the Saab head bolt onto the Ford block?
