troy-curt I've never had one break, but I've had several customers that had broken dip sticks and none ever hurt anything.

I put a small speaker magnet on all my oil pans, seems to work pretty good.

corenele your dip stick was probly rubbing the crank and was shaved off it happend to me need to bend it a little bit away from the crank side when you put the new one in

302 Z28 Never heard of that one. Probably would not do any damage, unless it happened to be kcked up by the oil sloshing around and find it's way into the crank....not likely though. It's too large to pass through the oil pickup screen, so it's safe there. It will just lay in the bottom of the pan.

dip stick

Last time driving my chevelle the tip of my dip stick broke off and found its way into the oil pan. Lucily I found the problem and was able to change the oil and oil filter before running the engine for a prolonged period of time. Has anyone ever had this happen? Did this cause any major harm to the engine?
