Carb Decision

Hey Everyone,

I have just put together a 355 to put in my '95 S10 and I am not sure which carb to buy. I am using a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (dual plane) and an Extreme engergy cam (268 grind). The 600 Edelbrock Performer is more in my price range (poor college student). I really like the 770 holly street avenger on my 377, but is the 670 holly street avenger be worth the extra money, and is it too much carb for this motor? I know that I can get away with more cfm having a dual plane intake.

Thanks, Matt

I think the 670 might be a little much for your application, depending on your heads. If you are planning or already have had some head work done, you might be able to get some good use from the 670. The 570 street avenger is a great carb and just as easy to tune as the edlebrock, but with the ability to fine tune for racing if needed.
What kind of heads do you have?

The you should be able to go with the 670. They are well worth the money. I have sold quite a few and everyone swears by them. I put the 670 on my Nova(66 corvette 327 w/2.02 heads, mild cam) and it works great. I had a 600 Edelbrock on, and was surprised with the better throttle response and tunability(word?) of the Holley. I used to dread the old Holleys, but really like the Street Avenger set. I'm sure someone else might be able to add some insight as well...
