sbc head info.
i see a lot of discussion on after market heads vs. the d/hump with 202/164 valves, with a good port job what will they compare to as far as flow etc.?

292 Turbo Heads
The 292 "turbo" head was the first generation, over the counter racing head offered by Chevrolet for the small block. This is a very good cylinder head, but generally needs to be ported to serioulsly out-flow a comparable "double hump" type head.
So, the answer to your question is this, if you've got stock type open chamber heads now, the 292 turbo heads will give you a performance increase, if you are capable of doing some good pocket porting, they are easy to get some big air out of them.
A little outdated, but still a good head.

292 Turbo Head
I was thinking about buying a set of 292 turbo heads for my 350 bored .030 over. I have a edelbrock rpm manifold. And my cam specs are this 292/292 duration 480/480 lift 230/230 duration @ .050" 109 lobe separation, the cam is by Lunati. It has a 750 double pumper carb. Hei, and a 2800 stall converter with 4.10 gears. It is in a 1972 El Camino.
Is this the best choice for heads, and will it hurt my performence. Also how much lift can the springs on these heads handle?
