Wouldn't you hate to work for a company and know part of your job was to lie to the customer about the service he will or does need?
It is such a shame that personal integrity is so rare these days. Very sad indeed.

|deadbodyman||well I called the place I got it from Automotive Tools, Supplies & Equipment - Rich Tool Systems They took my name and said they would get back to me ,that was last week so I sent them an Email stating I'm having trouble and want to buy some swirl cups for it along with tips and electrodes....lets hope they get back to me.. it dont look good getting any type of help from them...so far anyways ...I'm not posting this just to ***** about them I just want anyone that wants one to be well advised before buying a Chineese cutter...service is a big deal when theres a problem....I think the cutter itself would have been fine if I just cut sheet steel but using for the bigger stuff PLUS not knowing much about it stressed it out a bit ,I do know the swirl cup is burnt and badly distorted so that may be all thats wrong with it.but getting some replacements is difficult...All stuff to consider|

Update on the cut-40 plasma cutter...
Well its been about 6-7 months now That I've been using my cut-40 plasma cutter and I really love it...I quickly found out that for me I need something bigger and cut through 1/2 steel easily .This 40 amp cuts fantastic up to 3/8 but struggles with anything thicker ....
I burned up a few tips trying to learn how to use it but now Im getting pretty used to it but I think I messed it up running it at full power on the thick stuff,it started having trouble striking an arc and got harder and harder until the other day I got an arc, cut 2 inches and it wouldnt get an arc again ...It supposedly has a 12 month warranty so I called the place I got it - from page #1 www.richtoolsystems.com and they said they would get back to me but I doubt they will so I'll go down to the local welder repair shop and see what they have to say about getting it working again....
I knew I was taking a chance when I bought a machine from china and it did what I needed it to do but I think for a home shop when its mostly thinner material being cut it'll work just fine at my shop I do a lot of fabricating and use some thick steel so I might get a bigger one if this cant be fixed...I have no regrets ,it paid for itself and has been very handy ...so even though it stopped working I think its still a good cutter for most people plus I really dont think its anything serious just a problem with the tip...we'll see and I'll keep you guys posted with repair woes so it'll help the next guy that wants to buy a plasma cutter make up his mind which one to get...

I snapped some picts of my drive motor of my home made pattern cutter> Mine is similar to the one rotten leonard sells. An old windshield wiper that I made a new longer knurled shaft , I hold the nurled shaft against the wood pattern with 2 fingers, I don't know if a speed controller that wood workers use for a router would work.

Way back. I had a Miller stick welder. The Sears surplus store had a high frequency TIG conversion unit. So being the tool freak that I am. I bought it and hooked it up to the Miller..
First job was an aluminum canoe that was ripped almost in two about 1/3 back from the front.. The setup worked. Not like the big square wave at work, but it worked. Next was an airplane fuel tank. Then fabricate the auxillary fuel tank for the Sloan museum entry, a 32 Chevrolet roadster, for the Great Race.
Then I decided to go big time. So I sold the setup to a friend and bought a real TIG welder.. Loved it. But at that time such a welder was about half the size of a Volkswagen beatle..
Glad the new stuff is so much smaller and better.!

back when I was taking the welding course the teach said I could build a tig using the big lincoln dial arc 250 (stick welder) I bought from the school when they bought all new machines...I must have had this welder over five years and never used it once. I was thinking about using it for tig welding but have no idea how to do it...It would probably be best to just buy a cheaper one and get used to it before doing anything with the ole Lincoln.
BTW,I'm really loving my new P cutter its everything you guys said it would be...I went with the cut-40 for 400.00....and it was instrumental in getting this job done I could not have done it without the P cutter, weld cutters and drill bits just keep burning up before one hole is done...it works great to blow out one layer of a spotweldonce the panels are separated I simply use the uni bit to make the hole round it looks just like I used the weld cutter bit ..I've been playing with it a little too, cutting aluminum and using a guide to make straight cuts...my next toy will be the pattern tracer...

I have a Miller Auto 180 Mig and Hobart 60 plasma. This should fill out any welding/cutting chores I come up with. I still have an old Lincoln stick welder and a torch too. Pretty much got all the bases covered now...
The wife was sitting here and giving me dung about all my "stuff". She is a quilter and threatened to buy a long arm machine for quilting large projects. I told her to go ahead...

|INXS2||I think you'll like it. I've got the Eastwood AC/DC 200 Tig and it works very well. I couldn't afford the Lincoln 225 that we have at work, AC/DC 200 Tig gives the same results. I also have they're Mig 175 and really like the performance. The 40 Amp plasma cutter works great, when you learn how to use it!! You'll be happy with it. The only thing I did different was I bought a flow gage and put it on instead of using they're regulator.|
