|dankarol||Thanks about checking the u joints. when I had the drive shaft out I had them checked, they were ok, I don't remember if I align them to each other, don't know if that will help any word on that? thanks Dan|

hello and merry xmas to all,i had the same problem in one of my cars, the vibration was at a partical road speed and no engine speed,my universal joints on my driveshaft were past the service date.a simple test is to try to move driveshaft uni. joints in the oposite direction to which they are designed to go,if any movement is found please replace them, as if they let go your driveshaft may come through your floor or dig in the road and flip you over,bad situation,hope this helps.later.

After checking the previously suggested problem areas ask yourself a couple questons.
First: Did you have the machine shop balance the rotating assembly when the engine was rebuilt? If not, and major components like pistons were replaced, that could be the cause of the problem.
Second: If the vibration is not engine related and only occurs at a particular speed, make sure you didn't over torque the drive shaft bolts. The U-bolts holding the driveshaft to the pinion yoke only require 17 foot pounds of torque and no more. Over tightening these bolts can easily cause a drive train vibration. Been there, done that.

|DoubleVision||are you sure no rims are bent? any tires out of round? did you mark the driveshaft the first time you removed it to be sure it`s orientation was correct upon reinstallation? the balancer is a 350 balancer and not a 400? how about the flywheel? have you checked the transmission mount and motor mounts to assure all are tight and none are broken? in some cases I`ve seen a flexplate cause vibration problems and none appeared warped to the naked eye. have you checked the front wheel bearings? I`d go over all these things with a fine tooth comb.|

I have a slight vibration that i can feel through the car when i have the speed around 65 to 70+. the chevy 350 has been rebuilt with .030 over. it has about 3000miles on it. I had a new harmonic balancer put on it, and have taken out the drive shaft and had it rebalanced and same with all the tires. But i can still feel it through the steering columm and the floor board. Any idea of what to check? it was ok before i pulled the engine and trans and drive shaft. Also while i am asking whats a good cruise control out on the market that isn't vaccum and will work with a electric speed odometer? Dan
