i have a 76 gmc sprint sp (el camino ss) with a th350c. i ordered a transgo no yo-yo shift kit today. my dad told me it was a lock-out type transmission. what is a lock-out exactly and is it better than a normal th350 for a daily driver/street machine? the trans is hooked to a 73 sbc400, 327/350hp cam, headers, q-jet, edelbrock aluminum intake. thanks for any help

a common mis-understanding on trannys.

it is a "lock up" tranny.

This means the converter has a friction plate in it that applies under pressure to "lock up " the converter just like a manual tranny clutch does.

The tranny is not stronger than a regular T-350. most folks feel the T-350C is weaker in some reagrds. Mostly the lockup part inside the converter
