|Pony||The highest stock specs were 185 hp for 1978. Emissions killed the HP output on the SBC in the 70's. My 1974 350 Vet only has 8.5:1 CR and that all by it's self limits the amount of HP it can make. Closed chamber heads will boost compression and everything else with help but your still limited.|

i'd have to agree, my 75 in its stock form was a real dog out of the hole, it was 165 h.p.
a 460 lift cam, headers, 2 1/2" exhaust,weiand excellerator intake , holley 680 d.p. msd ignition. it is only 1.95 / 1.6 valves though. the best guess i got for those mods was 325 h.p. max.mike

I had that same setup in my 78 Impala station wagon man... It had 178hp.

Eng Hp 1978 350 vete engine
How much HP would I be getting from my 1978 vete 350 chev eng.the bottom end is stock but it has 202 heads straight plug, headers ,650 holly carb ?
