Magikal Yeah, I wish I could drive mine again. I thought of restoring it original but between the motor crack and the tranny bearing I think I will make a street rod out of it. Not sure. It is on the back burner till I age some. It's value will increase as will my experience. My grandpa was kind enough to load my trunk w/ new parts to go with it. (brake pads, engine parts, lots of misc.) all new (back in the 60's-70's) and in the box. A treasure trove for when I focus on that car. Parts are hard and the cars are few around here. I have my eyes open for new tail light lenses as mine got broken by my little bro (don't ask me why but he thought it was a good idea at the time) Any leads would help!!

guumba hey Magikal that's a pretty good car story!! my family is the second owners of this little buick. we bought it off of a neighbour who lives behind us and it was his fathers car to begin with. my dad saw it sitting in his yard behind his garage one day and went over to check it out and ended up buying it before he came home. at the time i didn't really like it but now i am a little older and i love my buick i will have it forever!! it too has the 4 barrel aluminum 215 but i just had it rebuilt because it was smoking alot as i was cruising down the street. it only has 50,000 miles on it and is pretty much original except for the paint job (it sat in a barn for 10 years so we took it down to bare metal when we bought it just to see what was under the paint) and i had the chrome redone, oh and the air bags and wheels i had to do just to make it mine. right now it is in pieces because i am going to totally restore it with the help of my friends and my dad of course the only trouble i have is finding parts for this car! my friends all roll chevys so when the need a part they pick up a book-then they pick up a phone and order the part they need--i am not so lucky! i really don't know how i would find parts for this if i didn't have a computer. WHEW! i am really bored right now i can't believe i typed this much in about my car, anyways i attached some pictures of my baby buick......peace!

Magikal Ahhhh...the ole' inherited 62' Buick. My 62 Buick Special (came original with a V8 215 aluminum block) was passed down to me a few years ago prior to my Grandpa's death (luv ya Grandpa!!). He bought it originally in 1961 from the showroom floor. Freakn Awesome man, I am the second owner. Anyways, I drove it for awhile but somehow the block ended up cracking during winter storage and yes, I drained the fluids first. Don't know why it cracked. I think a needle bearing was going/going to go in the tranny. Regardless, now it is in storage until I get a little more of this Hotrodding/restoration experience under my belt. guumba no malc my car is a lowrider but it has airbags instead of hydraulics just for that reason-i didn't want to reinforce everything just to bounce it and i didn't want to twist the heck out of it because it used to be my dads car then he gave it to me and he would get ticked if i ruined it like that. i'll try to post some pics of it today but i have never posted on a website before. oh and my website is a car show that my friend puts on here in canada and it it surely one of the best shows in canada!--and it only started a few years ago!! if your'e this way in the summertime be sure to check it out!! later!!

OddRodder I don't know, it may be a unibody! To be honest, I didn't realize that Buick made a skylark in 1962! Is it a 62' Special? Is it one of those models that was unique to Canada? Do you have any pictures?

malc Judging by your website it doesīnt matter what happens to it on stands,if itīs going to be twisted about
on hydraulics.

guumba thanks! well it might not be called a unibody then, but it sure isn't like my friends 62 impala. could anyone tell me what the proper name for my type of undercarriage is? just because it has no full frame, just a small suspension crossmember with three bolts holding it on to my car then all the front suspension bolts to that along with the power steering pump. thanks again, peace!!

Magikal I have a 62 buick special and it has a solid frame....even if it were a unibody it would hold on stands w/ no motor...was there even unibody in 62? Use blocks/boards if you're worried to distribute the weight load if you are really worried!!

My point being once you are given the answer to your question why push for the answer to your question again?? Don't you believe poncho? Do you know something we don't know about jack stands? I suggust you leave well enough alone and accept the asnwer poncho gave you already. Your not a troll are you?? LOL certainly sound like a me.......and there is another troll!

adtkart I would not put the stands at the extreme ends with a drive train in. Other than that you should be just fine.
