|rick 427||It all depends on the condition and mileage on the trans...If it's working good, [no engagement issues,slipping,etc.],then the kit will help.However it won't put clutch material back on wearing/worn clutches,or re-vitalize the old clutch apply lip seals in the clutch drums.If the trans goes out,it won't be because of the kit.It was allready on it's way.When you pull the pan,and it doesn't look real fresh in there,if you know what I mean,I would consider a rebuild in addition to the kit.If it's clean,I'd put it in.....With the pan off,don't be concerned about a little metal dust in the bottom,but very dark/burnt fluid OR clutch material sitting in there should throw up a red flag.I've pulled some customers pans,and couldn't believe that the trans was still working.Thats what you don't want to see.|

Since my TH350 is used and has wear does it make sense to add a shift kit or re-programming kit? Should these kits only be added to a fresh re-built trans? I ask because I know of one person who added a kit to his TH350 and the trans went out after that. I don't know what kit he installed or the condition of his TH350 before the install.

|vpd66||Plus 1 on the Transgo T44165 kit. Like said it improves the shifts, makes them quicker. I've been using them for over 20 years in turbo 350s. They shift smooth but quick when your light on the throttle. More like a bump feel to the shift and when you are full throttle they will chirp the tires. Great all around kit.|

|rick 427||Transgo has a basic shift kit for around 30 bucks that works great. I installed them in every stock rebuild,reguardless of who was driving the car. It's not a performance kit,but one that just cleans up the shifts.You will know when it shifts,yet it's very comfortable.If there isn't a trans shop near you,they are on e-bay.Punch in --transgo t44165--all catagories...there are a few of them on there.|

|beertracker||Another question. If I install the Transgo kit and drive it "like a old lady going to church" AKA "easy on the gas pedal" will it jerk when shifting? I don't know if my stall converter is a factor but it's a 2200-2300 rpm one?|

Transgo is far superior to B&M, Hurst or Fairbanks.
Keep the springs and valves. Document each one.

If you save the stock pieces that you remove, they can be re-installed to return the valvebody to stock. As long as you are using a kit that comes with a new separator plate, otherwise you will have to get a stock plate from a trans shop.
This is based off using B&M, Hurst, and Fairbanks kits in the past...I'm not familiar with how Trans-Go does it.

T-350 Shift Kit
I have been thinking about adding a shift kit to my th350 trans. My question is once a shift kit has been installed can it be removed later or does the shift kit permanently modify the trans? I am not sure if I will like being jerked at each shift and want to make sure I can remove the kit if desired and still have my trans work as before.
