The Mr. Gas is just a merge point between and flow does not actually intersect.
Exactly Chris. It's not just a matter of welding two pipes together. Dyno tests etc... have to be done to prove that the design works. And most people wouldn't even be able to tell the difference with seat of the pants comparisons.

X-pipes generally work best on high HP engines where you're rpm's are up there, not much help on your average car.

Super Chevy ok so since im only 18 i dont have the ability of clicking in the link and looking at the piece before i post, if it were 2 pieces of striaght pipe chewed together i would have said otherwise but since it isnt i said what i said. if the person who is buying the x-pipe gets the wrong size i think you should be compairing them to their age and not me.

87442lover This does not look like a good X-pipe. The pipe comes in at 2x2.5 inch pipes, but the middles looks like it's only 2.5 inches in size. Basicly cutting your exhaust flow in half and adding back pressure.

Most good X-pipes I've seen double the area at the cross so that it's not just a big exhaust restriction.

Now THIS is a great X pipe! And cheaper too!

TurboS10 After looking a little closer at the ebay piece, I can see where it might not be optimal with the cross flow. The Mr. Gas is just a merge point between and flow does not actually intersect.

Of course if it was me, I would get a couple of mandrel bent els and build my own Mr. Gas lookalike for $40. There really is nothing that special about the design from what I saw. But, then again I do all my own exhaust with mandrel bends after I found out I could spend a little time and have full mandrel exhaust. Most people dont want to mess with it.

me too, an x is an x. now for the price, which sticker do u want it to come with?
Another expert at the ripe old age of 18.

The siamese design X-pipes are proven to be the best. The welded plates on the DrGas X also add to their x-pipes longevity.

killerformula Just a question, but how does stuffing your flowing exhaust into a smaller diameter pipe increase horsepower?

6567GTO Beware of cheap knock-off X-pipes or any cheap performance part for that matter. All X-pipes don't give performance gains. I run a DrGas X-pipe on my 65 GTO. They did extensive testing on X-pipe design before coming out with their final product that they now sell. The size of the hole that's in the center section of the x is critical. Not saying that the one you found is bad but just never heard of them. When I checked out their website they offered NO numbers on performance gains etc...

X PIPEs Really Low price. Thought I should pass my find on to you guys.

This companies got really nice polished stainless steel X pipes for $40 not bad considering an aluminumized Headman X pipe is $90. I bought one its high quality. The link is for the 2.5" but I believe they have 3" Thought I would pass this find on to you board members. The link is not to one single auction its to their page on the ebay store, no bidding you just buy. If your not a ebay member you can call them and get the same deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2452080798
