i have the 65 pontiac lemans 389 w/ holley 4brl and a powerglide. i am wanting to put a mild cam in it. i believe the 389 is still stock with no mods. just wanting to know what the best cam would be. any help will be greatly appriciated.

p.s. besides the lifters is their anything else that must be replaced when replacing the cam?

Basically without chosing a specific cam but speaking in general you are probably better off keeping it on the mellow side. Main reasons are 1= mostly stock engine 2= highway gears in the rear (assuming) and 3= a powerglide doesn't have nearly the amount of underdrive in first as a three speed auto would have. If you put too much cam in her she will suffer off the line unless you are doing other mods. If changing the cam/lifters through a new timing chain, water pump, and t-stat in there also.
