Hey ! Im glad to be part of this finally. My son has a 86 firebird and it has been painted 2 time before he got it and both times the paint came off the front and rear . Both of these are plastic.I am just starting to paint cars and my exp. is limited . My question is can i use adhesive promoter on entire car, I dont mind the exspence?

Flexible parts such as plastic, rubber and in some cases fiberglass should have a flex agent added to the paint before they're sprayed. Paint once dry will be somewhat rigid and over time the flexing of those parts will cause the paint to delaminate or lift and then peel. Just add the recommended amount of flex agent (based on the "P" sheet for your particular paint) and you should be fine.

adhesion promoter is always a good idea. I use it in my shop all the time just to be on the safe side because when you do expensive custom paint jobs the last thing you want to worry about is it flaking off. As far as plastics go, you have to get a plastic cleaner, plastic compatible primer, and a flex agent

"Adhesion" promoter is sprayed on the part prior to spraying paint. It is not mixed WITH the paint... I have never used adhesion promoter when spraying plastic parts but everyones habits are different. I believe if the parts are cleaned and prepped correctly the adhesion promoter is not needed. I have never had any problems with paint peeling or flaking off plastic or urethane parts.
As far as mixing in flex agent I believe the agent gasses out in 30 to 60 days and is just used for assembling the parts to the car... Am I wrong? That is what my jobber told me so, if the parts are still on the car and aren't going to see much flexing I don't use flex agent either...
I would recommend having a heart to heart with your paint supplier. A lot of your questions can be answered by him and they will vary with whatever paint manufacturer you decide to use...
