|email@example.com||Of course, you can always cut round holes anywhere on the inside boxed wall of the frame rail for access to bolts, fuel and brake lines, wiring, etc. without compromising the strength in the slightest. On a 6" tall frame rail, cut 4" holes, 4" rail cut 2 1/2" holes, etc.|

|4 Jaw Chuck||I prefer to tap out rounds with the correct thread for these kinds of fittings, nuts tend to warp from the welding heat. A piece of 2 inch round 1" deep with the correct thread drilled and tapped into it makes a nice beefy chunk of steel to weld on. The main benefit is you don't have to chase the thread after welding since it doesn't warp.|

The fully boxed frame on my 34 has 3/8" nuts welded to the bottom of the top frame rail.

welded in boss' for boxed frames
I'm preparing to box the frame on my 34 ford coupe. I have searched the databases here and can't find the answer to this question.
For the bolts that hold the body and fenders on the frames there is a washer and nut on the inside of the frame, if boxed obviously one can't get to these nuts to tighten or loosen them. So is it acceptable to tack weld a larger diameter washer to the frame then tack the nut to the washer making a welded in boss for adjustments etc.
