Olds 403 help

Hey guys, any Olds boys out there please help...

I've traveled the internet near and far, looking up as many power-addons i could do for my 403..My basic build includes:

-030." over
-kb dished pistons(forged)
-stock 403 bottom end
-Edelbrock Performer Intake(shaker clearance)
-Holley Street Avenger 770
-SSI 224/234 camshaft
-1 3/4 Hooker headers
-2 1/2 straight back
-Olds 350 heads(2.07/1.625 valves)
-MSD 6A ignition, coil, distributor
-Dynagear double roller

Sorry for the long list, but any questions, suggestions, comments?? BTW, I stopped at .030" for safety reasons(as I'm sure you already know.)

juice??? I hope you don't mean nitrous. The 403's windowed mains couldn't handle that. I was just cruising around over at Mondello Performance, and they make a girdle that strengthens up your block quite a bit....I'll pick up their catalog and see what tthats all about....Apparently there is hope for the 403's...

Cheap mod for shaker clearence to use with RPM manifold

If you want to improove HP at high RPM going to the edelbrock performer RPM manifold is possible without sacrificing the shaker scoop. Infact, this makes it fully functional too.
I have a 79 Trans Am, with a 403, Im using a Performer RPM Manifold without sacrificing the shaker scoop. I modified the air cleaner to reduce its height in an afternoon with basic hand tools and a very minimal outleigh of $$$. Utilizing a 12" sponge filter from a velocity stacker air cleaner, (the air cleaner is set and sealed inside a some suitibly shaped sheet metal with wire mesh to hold it in place and allow for easy replacement and/or cleaning during service time) The air cleaner effectively sits horizontally in the top half of the shaker scoop. With the back cut open to allow cold above hood air in ti pass thru the filter before the air can enter the engine. This allows me to discard the factory original air cleaner and modify the bottom half of the shaker (shaker pan) to half its height, by 1st removing the snorkel and sealing the hole with a suitable piece of sheet metal (the back of the scoop is now open and 100% of the engines air supply comes in thru the back of the scoop, as it "should have" - its now a cold air intake and this vastly improoved the engines overall effincency), then I cut the bottom pan effectively in half (Cut thru the middle horizontally) so now I have the top half with the lip and the 2nd piece is the bottom half which is the base pan that sits directly on the carby. Now I simply slide 1 half over and inside the other and solder or pop rivet them together (2 halfs now slipped inside each other) all this effectively halfes the height of the of the bottom part of the shaker and this just happens to reduce the overall height of the shaker around the same size as is the diffrence in height between the Performer RPM manifold and the factory height manifolds that are available for the 403. Since the original air cleaner has been replaced with our custom 12" sponge air cleaner which is just over half an inch thick clearence isnt an issue and the 2 complete shaker is held together with the shackle ring, same as the factory.
i'm happy to share this mod in more detail if anyone is interested.
My Trans Am in the combo I have had it in until recently had run a best ET of 13.02sec It runs a modified 403ci @ 9.5:1 compression, TH350, 3.42:1 gears on 245 sized normal street tyres, & stock suspension.
