I'll stick to E85. Costs less than race fuel and get's the job done. I didn't have to do a thing but tune the carb to use it.

I agree 100% with firstname.lastname@example.org. Just not worth the hassle, if you need high octane you are better off just buying high octane fuel.
There are all kinds of "formulas" out there. Even mothballs, personally I will stick with commercial fuels.

|email@example.com||Toluene is just a commonly available hydrocarbon like benzene, kerosene, etc. It will raise the octane rating of gasoline but so will a bunch of other chemical compounds, tetra-ethyl-lead being the most infamous. Increasing octane rating of gasoline isn't brain surgery, pretty easy to do. Problem is doing it economically so the consumer can afford to buy the stuff by the tank-full. Lead was popular because it was the most cost effective way to get the boost. Problem with toluene and most of the other options out there is that the Base chemical costs more than gasoline and it takes so much of it to get the effect that it becomes cost prohibitive.|

Recently in the "Too much engine?" thread, the issue of Toulene Additive was brought up. I read the FAQ on the link posted by chevymike, but I'd like to get the opinions of others. What do you all know/think about this stuff?
