block off plate
good luck going to any parts house and buying an egr block off plate. for one removing emissions isn't legal and also it will turn on the check engine light. all you have to do is make a spacer or have one made and buy a couple of gaskets, or you could always grind into those nice valve covers for the clearance.

I machined it with a big file
It had to have the flanges, one to fix it to the manifold and the other for the EGR.Long bolts dont work.

Well My Jag has a 400 SBC sitting under the bonnet (hood to us Americans) So it's basically the same as your Vette motor, and it's been through smog in December so I'm good for 2 years. After that I'll be smog exempt. BUT I still want to run the EGR anyway. After all I wouldn't want to brake any laws

These are what I knocked up.
The tall one ainīt that pretty but it did the job.
The other I made was not quite thick enough, for the regular rocker covers.

I Don't know about on a Jag, But my vette Has a Plate between the EGR and the Manifold, about 1/2 inch thick...Requires 3 gaskets to put it all together, and is a bear to seal, but once it's all good, everything fits KEWL....
Trick is to get a Replacement Valve with proper Shaft travel with the new spacer...
If you run a block plate.... (My Road Doggie "MURPHY " is lookin' for another style ride to be an "A" driver for..glad to get rid of him...) You'll undoubtedly get the "Ominous" Two year Summons From the Department Of Monsters and Vampires ... To Stand and Submit ....
Smog Check 2 ... (Not just a Job ... an Adventure) ... Toughest Standards going ... I refer to my 12 Referee Visits, 11 Failed tests ... $6100.00 in parts (I really didn't want... don't make it go any faster....what good is it?) and a "Partridge in a pear Tree" ... I was allowed to once again "Road" My Vette...(which was never built for Ca Smog anyway..)
So If you run the Plate, Save it and the Old Valve Cover...CUZ your Going to have to have it to Pass The BAR (Not related to Becoming an attorney Or Getting Drunk ... but should be...) Bureau Of Automotive Repair ... Cuz during the Visual ... they might notice the Vacancy and I think the Confuser Program looks for it too.

I put tall covers on mine and found the EGR would not fit, so I went to a local metal shop and got some round stock aluminum.
It was just the right diameter as the EGR and enough length
to move the EGR up. Out of this I literaly whittled a spacer.
Eventually I went back to regular valve covers and still had a problem as the heads are World Products and they have a raised rail. This time a spacer made out of 5mm thick aluminum did the trick. Just trace around the EGR gasket.

I went out tonight after taking a break and I noticed that if I were to stack another gasket on top of the old one it will just clear. Can I do that? I was also thinking of making an aluminum extension plate out of 1/4 aluminum plate. I think that will give me just enough clearance. I also will look and see if I can find a valve with a smaller diameter. I think that will do the trick too.
Yeah Old Rodder I guess I'm not the only one but sometime it sure feels that way. The new valve covers look great, kinda of like the old vette style but taller. also because they are cast covers thats one less leak to worry about.

|DoubleVision||You should be able to find a EGR block off plate at your nearest part store. you could also maybe try and shave the side of the EGR valve, but if it hangs over too far, the block off is likely your only alternative.|

EGR Valve in the way of new valve covers
I was working on getting the new valve covers on today and when I got to the passenger side I had to pull the EGR valve to get the old chrome ones off. Then I looked at the new ones and they are MUCH taller so I know the EGR isn't going to fit where it used too. Do they make a smaller style EGR or someway to change the angle of how it comes out of the intake? I have an Edelbrock Performer with EGR. If push came to shove could I just block off the EGR hole?
