Would it be possible to use an IFS system off of a 94 silverado on a 66 el camino? is the IFS system good for lowering? would i sut bolt the hole system to the fram pretty much? I can get the IFs system for a pretty good price with 70,000 miles on it. My friend is swaping it out for straight axle (wnats to lift it to the moon)
Also this truck is 4 wheel dirve, so along comes the front diff. I can also get my hands on a transfer case? I was thinking i could hook it up for traction? it is an el camino you know... all wheel drive would be sick, its a 14 inch though. Would they need to be the same size diffs? i know the same ratio is mandatory.
heheheheheh!!!! all wheel drive elky....i bet ya can still spin em all HAH!
but i dunno on that swap never done it or read anything bout swappin front ends on these.
you can lowwer your stock stuff cheap & w/less trouble & the 94 silverado being a 4x4 swap why would u lowwer it.
sorry personally what your thinking about is a pipe dream.
it could be done but it would take soooo much time & $$$$$ & then to do it correct you would have to swap the whole frame our, which isnt an easy thing to do for a beginner & if you have even seen an early truck like yours on a 4x4 frame yea they may look neat but everyone else will also be thinking WHY did that kid ruin that nice 66 el camino... but then again i did help build a 4x4 68 nova back in 1982 but then only reason we did it was we had a free dead rusted out nova & a rolled 4x4 truck that was just about given to us. we did have fun w/it & the looks we got were great BUT we were also ways asked WHY ! ! ! ! ! ! ..........joe
I know what you mean, i dont want to raise the elky. I want it slammed with 4 wheel drive, using the 4 wheel drive as just traction, all wheel drive in other words. But I guess it would be alot of work. I was thinking that whole susupension might just bolt on my frame.. lol. i dont know anything about suspension stuff. I was thinking the front wheel spinning would kind of supress the el camino problem of the light rear.
