ChevelleSS_LS6 no, turbos aren't so complicated... with the time and funds, that's prolly the way to go.

deuce_454 so have you gotten a look at what ive sent you? and wouldnt you agree that ti isnt that daunting a task afterall

ChevelleSS_LS6 Yea, deuce_454, I'd like to know how to fab a water injection system for $50, so drop me a line ChevelleSSLS6@msn.com

87442lover, I wanna beat the imports at their own game. I was driving my parent's Saturn VUE, and if ya try to flex its muscle off the line you'll do an instant right hand lane change. Hate torque steer too, but its what Im stuck with.

85 regal,
they have v8 swap engine kits for S10s these days, but maybe I'll keep the Saturn mild and invest more in a real car, lots of late '70s beaters out there to fix up, and lots of people with musclecars for sale.

87442lover Ummm...?? a V-8 in a FWD car? why on earth would you ever.... oh never mind. Listen KID, drop a blown 3800 out of a buick or something into it. You just dont race FWD cars in my opinion, they pull so much you'll end up in a ditch on the side of a road. Sure I'd like to own a 3000GT, gut it, drop a turbo charged 3.8, or 4.1 from a GN into it along with a 200 4r tranny and make it RWD, but until I get about $20,000 for a project like that, I'll keep on dreaming.

deuce_454 i still think you are best suited running a turbo. you can lower the compression running a thicker headgasket and if you are moderate in your boostdemands you should be able to coax 200 hp out of that saturn, no prob.

if you drop me a mail ill send some sketches of how and why. ill even reveal how to build a waterinjection system for 50 bucks. so stop talking about it allready and get on with it.

ChevelleSS_LS6 deathtoricers,
It's different. Not some stupid Honduh, MAzduh, or toyoduh ricer. My saturn (as all S-series are, and i think all the rest of 'em) are built in the middle of a cornfield in Spring Hill, TN. Wish it drove the tires out back.

85 regal im going to give you my two cents thats never going to happen . if you cant have a project then your dad is never going to let you get the north* engine . ill tell you what i started with and give me some feed back . my firt car was an 81 volvo that eventualy blew up but for 300 bucks and and a new clutch and as much as i abused the thing i was amazed that it ran that long. next was an 84 s-10 my parents were the same as your dad is if not worse the truck ran fine but it wasnt a performance vehicle and thats what i wanted as you do .i was at a car show and saw a car that caught my eye an 85 buick regal t type hood not accual t type (darn) had a 350 so i thought(305)cherry bombs for exhaust and hadnt been to emmison in over 4 years to make a long story short (to late) i ended up building a 350 chevy at a machine shop witch i worked for free at so i could build my engine. so hard work goes a long way i would scrap the project one of us is crazy and try to jew your dad into getting something different hang in there he will cut lose of those chains one of these days

jeff of nc If you want a v8 you might look into using a 4.9 caddy. The hp potential isn't quite as high, but you'll be lucky to get that north* out of limphome mode. try searching the web for v8 fiero. I think you will find something to perk your intrest.

deathtoricers WHY

ChevelleSS_LS6 *thinks about buying a rear drive car, maybe an old Buick GS (Honda got beat by a 'granny' car)*
As far as the 1.9L DOHC Satty engine goes, if I were to make it a project car, I'd prolly put a cold-air system on it, maybe make one myself. Install a factory header and cams from a '92 or '91 DOHC Satty, and it'd be a pretty quick car, enough to keep the ricers in the school lot in the mirror. There's the one or two v8 'Stangs and Camaros that'd toast me, but there's no replacement for displacement and low-end power.

From what I heard, the most powerful 1.9 DOHC satun was about 250HP, that's with a turbo, but I like running all motor. The stock pistons I heard (or it was the rods, or both) I heard are fairly brittle, and inadequate for 'high' power applications. I don't really feel like ripping the engine apart (no project car rule, it's cold, it's only a four)

Bottom line: do my intake, factory header, cams, (for '93 they killed the slightly better cam and factory header). Buy a project car (old v8 powered beater, maybe a '77 Buick Electra (350v8, turbo 350, needs help) I mentioned in a forum with the same name as this one. Fix up the beater so it's a decent cruiser, and when the Saturn engine needs rebuilt, I'd apply the 3800.

MeanCuda: I read his autobiography(titled Delrean), and he was selling his Delorean company to some drug cartel that turned out to be federal agents.

deuce_454 over here in europe there are sone seriously fast front wheel drive cars, made with homewelded turbo manifolds, used turbos and ingenuity. i have a 1.3L vw engine that i am welding a turbo manifold (just couldnt leave it alone) it will put out 175 hp at 16psi of boost, and the cost is less than a 1000 bucks for the conversion. if you have some cash to spend you can build a mean 300HP saturn without breaking the bank. but you have to know what you are doing, be good at it and know what the project involves before committing to it

if you want i can send some pics of how to weld a manifold for a turbo, calculate what turbo to buy and what boost to run, and how to build a cheap waterinjection system. just drop me a line at jakob@regeur.dk

1meancuda Check out the new Cavalier drag car that GM has. It runs the Ecotec 2.2 (correct me if I'm wrong) and puts out over 700HP (once again, correct me if I'm wrong). Regardless, it does huge power from a very small powerplant.
