Spent this weekend at Chryslers at Carlisle. For a Mopar nut there's nothing closer to heaven. The size of the swap meet rivals Pomona and the best thing is that the only people who had any Ford or Chevy stuff were the guys selling "T" shirts.
Scored a virgin (NOS) 400 ci. block, an almost not used forged 440 crank and a beautiful set of 452 casting heads (with hardened seats). When you put them all together (with a set of stock 440 rods and Keith Black pistons) you have one bit-chin 451 ci. stroker motor. Just what I need for the '64 Polara Super Stock clone.
Congrats, CL. If stroking that setup wakes it up like stroking a 350 SBC, it will be awesome. Looking forward to some progress reports and don't want to hear "it's gathering dust and rust in the corner"!!
I was also in that same heavenly realm. I missed some deals due to my own stupidity. Missed a set of tail lights for $75, and the killer a set of 54 dodge wire rims for just $250...
Oh well the scenery was quite nice, and I had a great time there myself.
MOPAR:drool: 64 polara? that sounds ******. My gramps has a 66 dodge polara with a 440,crane cam, edlebrock intake, edlebrock carb, dual exhaust and some other stuff. Its a pretty sharp car if i do say so myself.imp:
One owner, big block 4 speed. Currently has a 383 but will wind up with the 451 stroker motor. Should be fun, but it's a ways down the priority list at the moment. Have to finish the '53 pickup, build a log home, finish the deuce coupe and then I can start a frame off on the Polara. At least my wife won't have to wonder where I am nights.
Centerline, since we're both a long ways off from having our strip cars ready, how about a challenge? i'll put my bbf maverick up against your polara..... you name the price.
otherwise, sounds like a nice weekend. except for the lack of all things blue oval.....

If I were younger I'd take you up on that. However having learned life's lessons the hard way, I don't race anymore. I passed the point years ago where I let my testosterone overrule my brain.
Racing gets damed expensive cause all you do is break parts. Plus you see the same guys at the track each weekend. One week you'll beat them and they'll go out and spend their paycheck on their car and come back the next weekend and beat you. Then you have to do the same thing and it winds up a vicious circle. Been there, done that years ago with a '69 Roadrunner.
I will say that one of the members of the Huston Mopar Club ran 11.86 right off the trailer with the same 451 stroker setup that I intend to use. He had a slightly lighter car and was running a torqueflight but I think I could expect mid to high 12's with the Polara running a 4 speed.
