I agree. That's an outstanding look!

My son just pointed out a Chevy pickup to me with ghost flames last week. It was the first time I had seen one. We're in Southern California. Now I'm going to be looking for more.

Thanks, I have since done some sanding and buffing. They look much deeper now. I am pretty happy with it.

tlambert No garage to park it in.
No trailer to haul it on.
Just good gears and A/C.
OHHHHH Yeaaaaaah!

lozinit You didn't step on my toes or insult me in the least bit.... I was kinda joking around about that post. Everyone in my office thinks it's funny that I don't like camaros that much, yet here I am building one. (We have a strong f-body group here and I keep joking around with them about "Well, every camaro I've seen isn't that impressive, so I figured I'd build one and see what you guys are doing wrong." Get's 'em everytime. hehehe)

I'm not knocking trailer queens, but street legal is the only way to go.. (Besides, I don't have a trailer to haul my toy around, so it has to be drivable.)

Kinda ironic, isn't it... I read your post and started laughing loud enough that the Div-O thought I finally lost it.
I have to agree with you on that. Even though I happen to own one now, I find the car rather 'cookie-cutter' for the typical street/track stomper. It falls in the catagory of "been done to death."
But, what the hey, the price was right and I was wanting to start another project and couldn't pass up a free car.

It was just one of those moments...

You building the truck to run just for fun of building it and driving it, or as a serious competition piece?

I did not want mean to step on any toes with that, it is just my perception. I will say this, I'd rather have something that everyone has than nothing at all.

As for the S-10, it will be street legal. One of the beautys of a turbo motor is it is usually not too nasty to drive on the street.

TurboS10 Ahhh, "the beaten path". Isn't that just boring. How challenging is it to build a typical small block powered camaro with a set of chrome slapper bars and some red paint. No offense to those who have one, they just dont excite me.

I will put a few more pics on picture trails of the bed construction and stuff.

tlambert:

The headers will be connected via a crossover pipe so all the exhaust gas it routed through the turbo. It is the last piece of the exhaust I have to build, but I am waiting until the engine is complete and the radiator is in. There is not alot of room. As for the headers themselves, they are $30 ebay gems originally for a 64 malibu that were slightly(well, I guess that depends on the definition of the word) reworked by myself.

BstMech Yeah, maybe you could post some pictures as it comes along. Since checking your pics, I'm interested in seeing how it's all gonna go together. The route you're going isn't exactly "the beaten path".

tlambert Chris , I looked at the pictures of the engine and I wanted to know about the headers. Those look wild, just wanted to know where they are going and how they will get hooked up. Post some more pictures when you start hooking up the engine and components.
Its looking good i wish I had taken more of mine when I was doing all of the fabing for the BB.

Michael,

I did the flames on my computer first. I free handed one side off of the computer print out. Then I took a digital pic and mirrored it for the other side and reprinted. It took me about an hour to tape both sides, and 2 more to mask it.

lozinit Chris,
I must say - that is one sweet ride you have there. How long did it take you to get the flames "just right" when you were taping it off?
The end result is very nice.

I'm thinking about copying your idea now when the time comes to squirt some color on the camaro. I've always liked the way pearl shows up. (Although, I plan on keeping the colors close to the pearl thats on my t-bird. Blue and purple.)

Wanna come paint my car? LoL.

Seriously, nice job.

I used red pearl for the flame body and blue for the tips. Not really darker or lighter. It just accents the purple to make it look a little different color.

I did the base coat, masked the flames, shot pear/clear mix over the masked areas, and then unmasked and cleared everything.
