cadillac man Thanks guys, but this engine is going in a grand prix

cojohnso Holley uses a formula: Engine size (CID) x maximum RPM / 3456 = CFM to calculate carb needs. If your engine needs more CFM then a single carb can provide then dual quads may be your answer. I would recommend a faster signal 4 barrel. (Dominator series for example.) Just adding more carb will not increase horse power alone. The engine can only suck in so much. By raising the cam and valve size you can increase your fuel and air acceptance thus larger carburetor(s) is needed, with increased exhaust flow. (usually bigger pipes)

Hope this helps

Siggy_Freud What are your goals? What type of car do you want this to be. I mean sure two 4-barrles can give you more power as long as the rest of the engine is built to use that amount of fuel.

Most tests have shown that open headers produce more power than any full exhaust system but who wants to drive around like that all the time? A full dual 2.5 inch system should sustain that motor. Make sure and throw on some quality mufflers (as far back in the system as you can).

There are a variety of cams to give you different amounts of power at different RPM's. But again this falls under the "what are you going for" category.

cadillac man

HI,I have a 428HO in a over 4000 lb car i was wondering if i could raise the hp if i put on a double 4bbl intake with eldelbrock carbs
or would it be better if i put on 3 2bbl carbs?

i also heard that short exhaust pipes, a better cam, and bare carbs give more hp also

it already goes 0-60 in 6.8 secs

please anyone who reads this please reply it's sad seeing more views than replys
