4.3

Chevy made vortec engines since 1992 first with the cpi injected that went to 1994 engine code W L35 262Cu. in with balancer shaft.
But they also made 4.3 V6 Z code LB4 262Cu. in carburated
Then in 1995 they made vortec W code but with Tbi up till I believe 2004
No, you can not interchange the fuel injection systems because of computer differences, also some vortec heads have the intake manafold bolts are on angles and some are straight up and down.
The W code Cpi has 195 hp, and the Z has 160 hp
there are very few upgrdes for the W code Cpi

heads

The vortex heads are the best, but if you're wanting to run a carb, the intakes goin for about 250.00.

Ghetto Jet You want heads off of a 96 or later S-10, they had the best flowing heads.

Gassman Were all 4.3s fuel injected? If not what years used carburators and distributers?

Does anyone know when GM started putting vortex heads on the 4.3?

black86z28 cool, thanks a lot man, i told him if he feels the need to do anythign to the heads, just pull them off and have a machine shop do them up for him, since, like u said, they are already vortec's and flow well

thanks man

FASTCHEVY No heads yet, and it already has Vortec heads that flow and burn well.
Headers/exh would be the first thing to do, and maybe computer mods next.

4.3 liter heads

a friend of mine is looking into gettin a 99 chevy s10 pickup with a 4.3 in it, we have been looking for some go fast parts for it, and noticed that edelbrock offers some parts, like the manifold and cam set and timing chain, anyone know where to find a set of aftermarket heads for this motor? or maybe some other possibilities for performance parts?

thanks

russ
