Hello Hotrodders, friends, amigos.
Seriously though. I have come into some limited funds. With my block done, crank ready and rods ready, I had planned my sbc rebuild. I have it figured at about 2-2300 bucks. Thats with pretty good heads, nice electric water pump and pretty much a complete air cleaner to oil pan to pully motor.
Problem is, Im about 6 hundred short right off the bat. I can save up and get it before summer, but that means no paint or xtras for the car.
Next one. I have a guy that has a 472 Caddy with a t400 tranny all bolted together and pulled from a car. He said its a great running engine and great shifting tranny. I have pics, but the way he sent em I cant figure out how to load em on here(maybe I can send em to someone who can?). Anyway, It looks like a nice motor. It has the front sump pan which will need changed and he has the rear sump that goes with it. He only wants 500 for the whole thing. Its a 10 hr drive is the bad part.
Should I stay home and build the sbc thats fresh and skip the paint and xtras, or should I buy the different 472 and take a chance on it being a good runner?
I may go either route, but I thought Id post to see what my Rodding family thought?
