USA1 A 402 is a baby big-block nowadays. Not a bad motor, but not really worth much unless you know someone restoring a chevelle and in need of a date-correct motor. Hell, even a 454 isn't a big big-block anymore, with 502's and even 572,s being more and more common.

yes it was in a chevelle

coldknock Is it in a vehicle and running?

is the 402 worth any money if so how much could i get for it
08-31-2004 09:22 PM
coldknock Uhhh, yeah.

i was told i could get 500 horses quicker from a 454 than a 402 is that correct

coldknock If the oval port heads on the 402 aren't the little "peanut port" heads, keep them and swap shortblocks. More cubes is better but the big port heads really aren't what they're cracked up to be, unless you plan to rev the snot out of it all the time. If that's the case go for the big'uns

poncho62 If the 454 has rectangular ported heads, it's a Hi perf motor and NOT from a truck.

It.s the way to go.
