Mustang Hub to Hub kits

Hi Fellow Rodders.
I've not found specific answers in "FAQ" or previously posted threads, so --------- can someone give me the benefit of your experience?
I'm considering replacing the original IFS in my '39 Chevy sedan with Mustang rack and pinion. Several (FatMan, TCI, etc.) manufacturers offer hub to hub kits; both bolt in and weld in variations. FatMan's looks attractive (others' appear to be a bit more costly??). Any comparisons/experiences you can share regarding ease of proper fitment, proper stance once installed, ease of alignment, etc. would be appreciated.
Is there good value in buying a power versus manual rack?

Thanks

My choice has always been Heidts. They're not the cheapest and their customer service could use a little improvement but their product is absolutely top notch. They are the only ones out there that seem to have designed their crossmember to exactly duplicate Ford's geometry which in the end means a better driving car. I have no experience with Fat Man's stuff but have heard both good and bad about him. I have only heard good about TCI.

You can go to my web site and see what's involved in installing a Mustang II IFS (on a 53 Chevy Pickup). If you shop around you can do it, including 11" GM disk brakes for around a grand.

Good Luck,

Centerline

That includes a Heidts crossmember kit and doing some judicial shopping for upper and lower control arms and spindles at swap meets. The Speedway big GM brake kit for the Mustang II is about $250.

You can do it with all brand new parts or around $1200-$1400 if your careful and wait for sales.

Appreciate your input.
I guess we've all experienced that "cheapest" doesn't always interpret to "best value".
We're headin' for CA towards the end of October; hope to check out some Dealers' along the way &/or at Booths at some of the shows/swap meets.

i ended up going to speedway motors for their kit i got mine at around $1000 for the base setup but they also have tube A arms and air ride for just a little more. Then i went to Street Rod Engineering for my Xmember $400 down there.

so for 1400 i got the complete setup the 11" brakes where nice
