Well I got my 74 coupe deville here. Ended up paying my ex-brother in law 200 dollars to get it here. It is not in bad shape at all body wise. The tires are holding air. It has set for a long time though. Lots of debris to clean up in the various hood and trunk nooks and crannies. The only obvious rust is under the vinyl top. But the rocker panels look great. Rear 1/4s are in pretty good shape.

Interior is pretty good. Headliner in the 74 is better than the one in my old 94 s10. Dash is in pretty good shape, really pleased with this. The carpet will need to be replaced because of what is going on in the drivers floor. The drivers door arm rest is pretty cracked. Also the inner hood release handle is off the cable. Also will need to replace some fuses. The panel between the passengers door and the rear window is a little loose. But overall the rear seat area is in good shape.

Not sure about the motor or drive train. It was sold with the understanding that it only works in reverse. Shift indicator does not move, but when shifted I can tell when it is in reverse, N, drive, 2, and low. Have not been under it yet. Hope to do that in the morning or maybe Monday morning. Will also need to see if my th400 will fit. Not sure about the tail end, but the bell housing will fit. Once I get the hood up I will see if the fluid is burnt or if it is just a linkage or other simple problem. But I have a plan to make an attachment for my floor jack to raise the tranny.

But overall I am pleased with the car. I am going to leave it fairly stock. At least inside as it is to pristine to mess up. Got a plan though to put some gauges where the ash tray goes. And not sure where I am going to go with a tach, but overall I like the big bench seat and the dash.

Nice loosing project.

Wouldn't be something if the linkage is off and its just stuck in reverse? I bought a 66 Tempest LeMans that way, except it was standard shift...put in pin to hold the shifter linkage and drove it home from a car dealer who was stuck with it....Should have kept that car...let another one get away.

sorry, I had to.

Lookin' good man, what are you gonna do to it?

Gonna fix it up a little and build the big cruiser I have always wanted. First I have got to get it running. Should just need basic tuneup type stuff as it has been sitting quite awhile. That and the transmission are my first priority. Once I get that stuff out of the way, I am going to work on the vinyl top. Got to get started on that rust.

I think I am going to do some mild hop ups. Edelbrock intake. Maybe eventually a head change to bump up the compression. Possibly eventually even add some bottle blower.

I am going to rebuild a holly 600 cfm and see how it effects power and gas mileage. Just for kicks.

AN update.

Drove it about 4-5 miles today. It will go into a forward gear, just slips real bad. All I did was throw in a new battery, some fresh gas, and a new air filter. Used a little starting fluid, but that is the only thing special I did to get it going.

It rides real good. Of course just as I was pulling it into my sisters back yard the belt to the power steering went out. So steering it became a two person job. Backing and pulling forward, inbetween using all my and my sister's strength to turn the wheels was not fun. There is an ally behind her house and her neighbor had a conveniently parked van. :boxing:

But we got it in. Now I just need to get the tranny in it.
