Trash Rabbit

I built a buggy, to push cars, at the track. I call it Trash Rabbit, because it's built from salvage yard scraps, and is quick as lightning.
It runs an Iron Duke fuelie motor.
Just for kicks, I took a stock tubular manifold, and split it, 1+4, 2+3. Ran 1 1/2" pipes back, and put Harley mufflers on it.
Sounds really unique, but still like a chainsaw on steroids, when you mash it.

Nightfire A 4-banger with open headers will sound more like a Honda with a fart-can than a V8 with straight pipes.
You can buy some "boom" tubes that everybody is puttin on their imports and that'll give you a pretty loud sound even if you're not running headers.

I don't care whether it performs well or not, I just want it to be loud enough (without running open header) to deafen anybody standing outside the car.

Well not that loud but still I want it LOUD!
Thanks for your help and suggestions anyway Max

ice racing

I take it you have a 4 cylinder in your chevette. The sad truth is there is no way to make a 4 holer sound like a 6, let alone a V-8. If you are allowed to run them, try some good headers and a good 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipe. Not going to guarentee the sound but it will definately run better. The larger the diameter of the exhaust pipe, the deeper the tone. If I were you, I would concern more with getting as much out of the engine as possible and not worry about the sound. Sound doesnt necessarily equate to power.

I would also recommend running a 36 inch exhaust pipe on your 4 cylinder. That includes the collector length.

Exhaust Suggestions

I'm running dual 2.5" side pipes with glass packs on my Cutlass and like the sound as it is a nice rumble but not like running open header. I want to get my ice racing chevette to sound like it has a mean V6 or V8 in between the front fenders but don't care to run mufflers or cats on it. What can i do or what size pipes can i use? Has anybody tried anything before? I'm open for all suggestions as long as they don't involve to much bending, shaping or flaring. If any one can give me some good suggestions but don't want to post them e-mail me at rekrap07@shaw.ca
